Though I must admit, I miss the blue Greek coffee cups that seem to have disappeared. Credit: [My Recipes]( What Iâm not getting used to is the expense. I canât believe how frigginâ expensive this town is. I know, I know. Iâve been gone a long time, but I should know better. But itâs not just the price inflation. I canât figure out how ordinary people here make ends meet with the taxes they have to pay. And as costly as paying taxes is now, just wait until Chuck Schumer and Joe Manchin get their IRS lackeys after you. This awful reconciliation bill is more âFrankensteinâs Monsterâ than âpeace quilt.â And itâll rip the savings right out of your hands. In this Rude, Iâll explain why holding onto as much of your earnings as possible is the most moral thing a person can do. The Reign of Terror I loathe the French Revolution. It was a proto-communist enterprise. Itâs a disgrace to compare it to the American Revolution. Men like Maximilien Robespierre are lauded to this day because young people donât understand the distinction between persuasion and coercion. Honestly, the only good thing I can find about Maximilien Robespierre is that heâs dead. Robespierre defined the âterrorâ to which he is inextricably tied. From [Wikipedia]( If the basis of popular government in peacetime is virtue, the basis of popular government during a revolution is both virtue and terror; virtue, without which terror is baneful; terror, without which virtue is powerless. Terror is nothing more than speedy, severe, and inflexible justice; it is thus an emanation of virtue; it is less a principle in itself, than a consequence of the general principle of democracy, applied to the most pressing needs of the patrie [homeland, fatherland]. So, if you disagreed with Robespierre and his criminal friends, you were âterrorizedâ by a guillotine. Luckily, weâre fresh out of guillotines! The Communist Manifesto Then came along the real communists. Hereâs how I think: if itâs in The Communist Manifesto, itâs probably wrong. These are the [ten planks]( of that awful book: - Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
- A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
- Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
- Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
- Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
- Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
- Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
- Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
- Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
- Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of childrenâs factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. And why do they want high taxes? Because redistribution is the only way to keep anyone from pulling away from the pack. That is, the productive must give to the unproductive to keep this âsocietyâ going. Itâs not a society most people want to be a part of. And yet, since the publication of the Manifesto, most people unquestioningly believe that an income tax is âfairâ and âhow you contribute to your country.â Now thatâs deplorable! [Click Here To Learn More]( What This Bill Will Do From [The Wall Street Journal]( The pact between Sen. Joe Manchin and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer includes $80 billion in new funding for the tax man. Democrats claim this âinvestmentâ will yield more than $200 billion in revenue. That estimate is highly speculative, but if itâs anywhere close to right IRS auditors will soon be coming after tens of millions of Americans. The $80 billion is more than six times the current annual IRS budget of $12.6 billion. The money will be ladled out over nine years and comes with few strings attached. The main Democratic command is for the tax agency to bring the hammer down on taxpayers. Sheesh. The last thing anyone should want is a bigger tax man. This sort of idiocy is why US citizenship renunciations went up so much. It reminds me of the passage of FATCA, the [Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act]( which forced many overseas Americans to turn in their passports for good. I was one of those Americans. FATCA made life miserable. Americans overseas couldnât even open up bank accounts. Thatâs because the paperwork imposed by Congress on foreign financial institutions was too onerous. So they just stopped servicing Americans altogether. Now, Americans inside America are getting similar treatment from their government. [The Journal]( continues: The main targets will by necessity be the middle- and upper-middle class because thatâs where the money is. The Joint Committee on Taxation, Congressâs official tax scorekeeper, says that from 78% to 90% of the money raised from under-reported income would likely come from those making less than $200,000 a year. Only 4% to 9% would come from those making more than $500,000. Let me be clear: taxation is theft. I didnât say it first, but itâs true. Hereâs the great [Murray Rothbard]( Taxation is theft, purely and simply even though it is theft on a grand and colossal scale which no acknowledged criminals could hope to match. It is a compulsory seizure of the property of the Stateâs inhabitants, or subjects. And depriving a person of the fruits of their labor is the worst kind of theft because it deters the very work that sustains productive individuals, their families, and their nations. Avoiding Is Not Evading Letâs get another thing clear: tax avoidance is entirely legal. Tax evasion is not. Thatâs why itâs so essential to hire a competent accountant. Theyâll save you much more on your taxes than the fees you pay them. I canât recommend enough you do this. It continues to astound me that people refuse to pay for an accountant that can save their families thousands of dollars yearly. Tax avoidance is merely not overpaying your taxes. But hereâs a little secret: evading tax demonstrates a lack of ingenuity. Some people donât know the rules, so they just donât pay. Thatâs the crazy train. Pay an accountant to know those rules for you and keep you out of the IRSâs sights. No law says you pay the âmaximum tax intended.â In fact, a good government would want its citizens to keep as much income as possible. And if that doesnât work, get on maneuvers. Remember, the first pillar of the Rudeâs Pillars of Financial Freedom is to have a second passport. That way, you can get out of Dodge when enough is enough. Better to be years early than a day too late. Wrap Up Itâs moral to keep the fruits of your labor because you created them. Itâs moral to pass on those fruits to your children and grandchildren. Itâs moral to spend your wealth as you see fit. Whatâs immoral and reprehensible are thieving politicians who canât keep their filthy paws out of your pockets. Isnât it better to fund your familyâs posterity than the Pelosi family hedge fund, Bidenâs bumbling, or Kamalaâs cackling? Have a great day! All the best, Sean Ring
