And what a fabulous day it is… Whenever I wake up in the morning and find the Left in a frenzy, I know it will be a good day. What’s the subject of their outrage today? The Supreme Court of the United States is about to overturn Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey. I’m positively thrilled about this, but perhaps not for the reasons you think. Roe was always lousy law-making. To remind you, the Supreme Court is there to interpret the law, not create it. Of course, the constitutional illiterates on the Left, who try to impose their views - and the costs of those views - on everyone in their polity, don’t get what a great deal this is for them. Abortion will not be illegal. It’ll be a matter that’s rightfully decided at the state level. If you want an abortion, head to the People’s Republic of California or the Eastern California Bay Colony (Massachusetts). You’ll be able to avail yourself of the full array of infanticidal options. But in places like Texas or Oklahoma, no dice. That’s what federalism is all about—different rules in different places within the same polity. Some Funny Reactions My buddy and Rude reader Mark sent me a funny Telegram message on the Left’s busy day: He wrote: The Left had a busy day: - - The definition of “woman” was miraculously restored. - The concept of bodily autonomy and medical choice was rediscovered. - The “Will Smith Effect” made its debut in the form of an armed attack on Dave Chappelle. I will use this as an outline for today’s edition of the Rude. What’s a Woman? I didn’t write about Ketanji Brown Jackson before because I thought she was too easy a target. But let’s get a few things straight. SCOTUS judges agree with each other 75% of the time. I don’t expect that to change materially once KBJ is a judge. That’s right, though she was confirmed earlier, she’s not on the Court yet. She takes Justice Breyer’s seat in the next month or two. So news stories you may have read claiming she was the source of the leak are preposterous. Yes, she’s probably as liberal as Breyer. But that doesn’t mean she can walk through walls. If RBG and Scalia were best buds, I don’t think she will rock the boat all that much. With that said, her answer to “Can you define a woman?” during her confirmation hearing could’ve been better. She famously replied, “I’m not a biologist.” That led to all sorts of goodies in Memeworld, such as: The question was a Molotov cocktail, but she could’ve redirected it better. “I’m a woman” would have sufficed. She evaded the question (badly) by not answering it at all. And yes, it’s fair to say that you must know what a woman is to defend “women’s rights.” Yesterday, it seems, the definition of “woman” was somehow re-intimated, if not defined, in our collective subconscious. Equally striking is the claim that abortion is a choice between a woman and her doctor, but (My God!) you better get vaccinated and wear a mask! Forced vaccination is abhorrent. And there’s zero, and I mean zero, evidence that it did anything other than injecting a considerable proportion of the population with a toxin. We still had to wear masks to satisfy some leftist virtue signaling, though they don’t work even a little bit. We still had to have vaccine certificates to enter public buildings, though that’s gone away in a good portion of the world. Why wasn’t it “my body, my choice” for the millions who didn’t want that toxin injected into them? Those who got vaccinated can only hope there aren’t any long-term effects. Because “science” was abandoned for Big Pharma’s profit pursuit and Big Brother’s pursuit of your submission. Dave Chappelle Gets the “Will Smith Effect” Thanks to the left’s overwhelming need to control your thoughts, words have become violence. No, words are words. Violence is violence. And class has clearly left the building, even at the most elite levels. Another shitshow I wanted to avoid, the Slap Heard Around the World, has reared its ugly head again. Quick reminder: at the Oscars, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for a joke Rock told, and Smith laughed at before seeing the disapproval on his wife’s face. Even by Hollywood standards, Smith walking up on stage and assaulting Rock was classless. Then screaming, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*cking mouth!” put the proverbial cherry on top. Of course, only 10 minutes later, Smith won the Oscar and got a standing ovation. Many on the left were happy Smith “defended his wife.” People like me wondered how Smith was still married to Jada while she publicly cucked him. In the aftermath, Smith resigned from the Academy and has been banned from the Oscars for ten years. What a lucky guy! But there were further repercussions. Yesterday, Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage during his stand-up gig at the Hollywood Bowl. You can watch the whole thing [here](. They are not microaggressions, whatever they are. But as the draft of Roe’s repeal was sent around, many took to social media to express their preference for violence. As leftist politicians have lied about “mostly peaceful protests” and excused those who committed crimes in places like The City Formerly Known as Minneapolis, this should come as no surprise. The surprise will come when good guys with guns stop the leftist violence. Wrap Up America’s societal fabric has frayed and may be past the point of repair. That’s why it’s so important to have different rules in different states. It creates flexibility within the union that allows it to withstand violent shifts in the polity. Without it, the union ossifies and starts to crumble. Trust me. I live in the European Union, a superstate with a short life span.
