According to an analysis by the Center for American Women and Politics, 122 Black women filed to run for Congress this year, the highest number ever recorded by CAWP (which has been tracking since 2004) and a 43 percent leap since 2018. About 77 (60 Democrats and 17 Republicans) are still in the running. This year has also been a record for the number of female candidates.
