It’s unacceptable that, in the wealthiest nation in the world, millions of people cannot afford to feed their families — even when they work full time. But the good news is that in the five years that Oxfam has put together this index, some states have increased their score — highlighting the efforts of advocates who have organized and demanded change. All workers are better off with stronger wages, the right to organize and collectively bargain, and robust protections in the workplace — regardless of where they live.
