Some journeyed through dense jungle or across rough sea and land to the world's largest refugee camp: Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Oxfam asked Rohingya men, women, and children to share their stories as part of our annual Rohingya Arts Campaign. [Here’s a preview of the powerful visual art, photography, writing, and poetry we received from Rohingya artists.](113/cssrH04/VWZ84q3R8GggW1gtlFn5yHM61W9fbdmV4NtLnHN1KM5tm3q3nJV1-WJV7CgPcWW3RdNQr4F9LnzW7rDBx-85Z2KFVKHSc24byRjcW7JGcHR5_-wymW6r05wj7Nfy4rW8Mr6vq6xtD-wN2NHMxjC3dr1W6YQsHX1nC7xYN7Yz6zhSSd05W2V9tc01nd24_V7l4r231Vgt7W7t4Lk490g9MNW87wVmg42zR0pW7wZ15472mBXpW65kYvJ69nHyRW3MggVP7-T4NcW9hc1F_6r8dSJVgfr7Z2kpPxqW3mGY2n6qSsPxW48nWGv5RHmjzW6pGTRZ5NzWN4W9ctStX4R5LjWW2DdFdr7kZX1ZW1qQJMS1cwDqS37MG1) “My situation has made me a poet and artist.” - Mayyu Khan, 20 [A painting of a mother crying as she holds her child to her face.](113/cssrH04/VWZ84q3R8GggW1gtlFn5yHM61W9fbdmV4NtLnHN1KM5tm3q3nJV1-WJV7CgS30W4mNJLw7j0WhYW6ThR4J9dGSYnW8tBvdb2q3BGdMsY7gbz7GYrW2ZXtVQ2GM583W4R2q1Q6vkYZKW94v6kQ5np4G8W4yd7zq5bRht1W2rpW4X8zsPTxW7yyBTb94FkrlN7gKkQw-d5JxW7TNq3s5W57LLW4ZbcQt2bc1XWW1b7-756RZgTSW1WbzRh6qsWyYW8NrtL23TrtGHW6HfFCd740CplN3w5jxtvZHrwW1MLdw47sNjMhW3nlv5b2wCcMRW6jQgJn7DnrV0W86qxJK6XQvcLW3WYQKS9kt5H4W7tqdYX1FqcjY35Sf1) Mayyu Khan uses his art to contend with his experience of loss and trauma. In this painting, "Mother and Child on the Bank of the Naf River," he depicts a Rohingya mother and her baby as they flee the Myanmar military’s campaign of violence in August 2017. “Through my photos, the world can be updated about the situation in the refugee camps.” - Azimul Hasson, 19 [A photo taken of Cox's Bazar, showing hundreds of people in smog picking through the remnants of a fire.](113/cssrH04/VWZ84q3R8GggW1gtlFn5yHM61W9fbdmV4NtLnHN1KM5tm3q3nJV1-WJV7CgQrsW2S91C91DpSxZN7jXm7HsCP_pW653l2l228P_SVBsffW5wdLw_W3xJvY46tMkscW7dywWb1MTqg1W6Hf1-W8Crf5GW63pmW66B64C7VHlRlB4CsWdKW4kyCzx48YnjgW8DyYD52NccjpW6x828M75sFmWVl0gxB4NY6WKW5WMFCd984SxdN7z0HjFSKLn6W24SGCb3Z1L-RW7fl1dg479SLYW8GR4PL15hfhxW2dGtMD68BgX8W53DjSW89GdFhW5Xj-1w7ntfgsV6Q2sN12cLS3N46s1dWnM3DJVTck7396H4T535BH1) Azimul captured this image after a fire ripped through his temporary home in Cox’s Bazar. “It is important because there are many things journalists miss — but I live in the camps and am myself a refugee, so I can capture the daily reality of my community.” “Poetry is like raising my voice to the world from my obscure world.” -Ro Anamul Hasan, 24 [A portion of Ro Anamul Hasan's poem: Under this tarpaulin shelter, I dwell like ants in hole Spending my mundane life By hankering for home and homeland My dark night never turns into daylight…](113/cssrH04/VWZ84q3R8GggW1gtlFn5yHM61W9fbdmV4NtLnHN1KM5tm3q3nJV1-WJV7CgKJlW6J9jdZ1hc7CMW7hfxr42fcSWJN2Ctb-tRBj8zV5XPCQ7SCgY0W1632cR2zT2z9W72xB0_5HlVPDW98yPvF3m8MZ_W6lGq6Y8NK3Z8W4Dj1c219mW44W7B5-s41QBqk5W8-4vHz5SGsS8W35L8lz3m-lSyW4Hz5X458tjwXW7Sw4qB2lVDrQW4SF_TG5l0Z4mW9kJ40k1WHWPtW2S0D754kGttTW9jjhX01hyM-MW2v2Xj68tF_KtV-1Q1s7CWN4tW6-hq9b6l70YRW5GgN5l4gBQRDW1btZvm69nZ7ZW6jzpKd5DQNqX3dB01) These opening lines are from “My Refugee Life” by poet Ro Anamul Hasan. His writing examines his experiences with horrific violence in Myanmar, a place where his uncles were arbitrarily arrested and tortured and from where he was forced to flee. --------------------------------------------------------------- Oxfam’s work in Cox’s Bazar is focused on meeting immediate needs and improving living conditions in the camps in the long-term. This has taken many forms, including providing food vouchers, installing solar-powered lights, distributing soap, drilling wells, and installing water points, toilets and showers. Friend, this community’s passionate support allows us to provide critical support to refugees and vulnerable people around the world. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
