If you were trying to buy an AR-15 with a short barrel, it would be classified as an SBR (short-barreled rifle.) You’d have to pay the tax stamp and fill out a ton of paperwork to legally buy one. So, this is a legal way to get a short barrel without going through the pain-in-the-butt bureaucracy. Now, here are the reasons an AR Pistol is such a good home defense gun… --The magazines holds 30 rounds (if you live in a free state) so you should have no problem dealing with multiple intruders. (My AR Pistol is .223 just like my AR-15s.) --Since it has a short barrel, it’s perfect for close quarters situations, such as in your house. (You don’t have to worry about knocking into walls and it’s easier to maneuver in tight spaces with a 7.5-inch barrel.) --Easy to use and shoot. Handguns take a lot more skill than an AR Pistol, so a family member who might not spend a lot of time shooting, could easily use this gun to stop a home invasion. In fact, the only people I’d tell not to use an AR Pistol for home defense, are people that have young children and don’t have a way to lock it up. Otherwise, an AR Pistol is perfect for home protection.
