Daily Pit Stop CPI delivered a move, sort of  The SPDR S&P 500 trust is flat on the day.  Yester

Daily Pit Stop [fstp, logo, header] January 11th, 2024 [ag views, logo, header] CPI delivered a move, sort of  The SPDR S&P 500 trust (Ticker; SPY) is flat on the day.  Yesterday I noticed that most of the CPI move days in 2023, and the days following, moved around 10 points SPY. Well SPY did more that that, just today. Opened 478, traded down to 472 and rallied back to 477 or an 11 point move on the day.  And we still have 2 days left in my 3 days. [fstp] As hard as it is to believe, we did not hold the selloff.  SPX takes 4800 and we move to new highs. If this market is anything it is consistent. When it does not hold a selloff, it rallies as soon as it can. I closed mostly SPY/IWM puts in my products today and am looking to close the calls tomorrow and Tuesday unless we really take off, in which case I ride them to mid next week.  New highs here we come. Crazy as it sounds, if stocks do not sell off on a poor inflation report, what makes them selloff? - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? Many of the names that make up the ETF got smoked in 2023…names like Target, Macy’s, and Nordstrom’s had tough years. But, underneath, especially in the back half of the year there were some massive winners. Take a look at the run ANF had starting in April of 2023… The point is, XRT does not tell the whole story on Retail. Some individual companies did VERY well in 2023. One of the best performers in 2023 is a stock we are going to be looking at this week….a stock that is worth more than 50 billion dollars. A stock that had a huge run in the back half of 2023. Is it time to ride the rally…or is the company over done… [We will answer that this week…read on to see what stock…AND where it is going…]( - Mark  [fprm] National Security Investing Hey Influence Traders, Investing in national security isn’t just about defense stocks, like RTX Corporation (Ticker: RTX). It is also about maintaining critical technologies like microchips, rare earth metals, and energy independence. And we’ve been getting our a$$es kicked by other countries. I’m going to discuss that in detail inside and why it creates investment opportunities. But I’d be remiss not to mention the big news of the day – Bitcoin ETFs are a GO! Yesterday, the SEC approved 11 spot bitcoin ETFs from companies such as BlackRock, Fidelity and Grayscale Investments. The approvals only involve ETFs holding Bitcoin (Ticker: BTC), not broad crypto. As SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce noted, this is the “end of an unnecessary, but consequential, saga.” The approval is expected to provide a boost to the entire digital asset ecosystem, and will provide some good short-term “trade on the news” moves. But the industry has been anticipating this announcement, so some upside is already priced into BTC. With that said, long-term trading options will be huge, which is why OptionPit is starting a class on how to trade Bitcoin ETFs. We have a pipeline of information on how to maximize ETF trades that you will find nowhere else. Keep your eyes out for more information on our BTC ETF trading strategy. [Now let’s get back to how to make money by keeping an eye on National Security.]( - Frank   [glossary, logo] There are plenty of terms in the trading world that need explaining. The Option Pit Glossary is here to help. Today's phrase is: Paper - A trader’s term for retail order flow. This is everyone not a market maker.
