I did not see the massive Mag 7 bounce happening today. It make the Apple Inc (Ticker: AAPL) puts I want to buy cheaper but since AAPL is going straight up I might as well wait. Waiting is not the word for this trader who put up a 1 x 5 trade in VIX. I am doing OptionsInsiderRadioNetwork’s Option Block when Mark Longo get the crazy flow alert in VIX. A trader is buying A VIX May22 22 call and selling 5 VIX May22 47.5 calls for a .50 or so credit. Hypothetical this trade is a credit and it will work great as long as VIX just crawls up to 22. It normally does not work like that. I think what the traders want is the 47.5 calls evaporate enough that they end with the 22s for nothing or a small credit in a couple of months' time. It could happen. [fstp] The trade is also massively short VVIX, or Vol of VIX. VolMan circled where that is on the one year chart. That is near the dead low of the year. The direction of VIX can still work out but the volatility of VIX can give this trade a big ouchie. [fstp]1 year VVIX chart A trader puts up a massive volatility sale at the dead bottom of the year. They will either be really right, and VIX sees new 4 year lows, or they sold the bottom in VIX. That rarely ends up well. - AG  [Pit Profits] - Option Pit Mentoring - SPY JAN19 468/458 pv 485 c SVIX Jan19 38 c closed 34% - Option Pit Mentoring - WBA Div+ paid 3.5% Want to find YOUR winning fit?
