🚗 Russia and China Tighten Control of Oil and Gold - Here’s What to Do

Coming off a weekend, the VIX was down decently. SPX moved back above the important 4330 level, even if it took a rally in the final 5 minutes of the day to make that happen. With economic data relatively light and a potential house shut down, what is next for the index? Is Tuesday going to be the big turnaround that everyone loves to tout? Or are we heading back to the 200 day moving average at 4192? You are probably wondering why I say that. VIX will be lower at some point so surely you jest, Mr. Andrew. The issue is when. VIX is not technically in backwardation to the ordinary futures. (The green VIX cash line is not yet higher than the yellow VIX futures line.) 9DVIX is close to 20. So we are approaching backwardation and Zone 3 for the first time in a while. [1).png] My rule here is don’t buy a VIX put unless there is an offsetting trade in SPY puts or a VIX call. The return to a lower VIX number, when it happens, should more than compensate for SPY or VIX hedge.
