Option Pit Daily VIX futures pick up a bid for the first time in days Traders are just a bit nervous

Option Pit Daily [fstp, logo, header] May 22, 2024 [ag views, logo, header] VIX futures pick up a bid for the first time in days Traders are just a bit nervous about the Nvidia Corp (Ticker: NVDA) earnings. For the first time in days, the VIX futures are catching a slight bid midday after steady losses over the last week or so. Remember the VIX futures will move up, and as long as VIX cash stays under the future value, they will go back to decaying again. The bid for VIX today is that options can move up and down. Recent volatility on the upside has been a big monster for 2024 so a good NVDA earnings will be the tide that lifts all boats. [ded] The bid for VIX futures says we are likely to move more than the volatilities imply. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? We have the Federal Open Market Committee minutes coming out at 2:00 PM ET. All the algos will be scanning for dovish or hawkish adjectives for the interest rate decision in June. Will they cut rates? This was the big anticipation early this year with several cuts expected until the market finally realized what a big mistake that would be as inflation hasn’t been tamed. Will they raise rates? I would say most likely not. The U.S. debt is too large and we are already being suffocated by the interest payments. And it is an election year. I am not bashing one side or the other, they all do it. Stay the same? In my opinion, this is the most likely scenario. The Fed has made a mess of monetary policy over the years, the less they do the better. If Congress could just stop spending, the country would be better off. Fat chance. The second big news is of course Nvidia’s (Ticker: NVDA) earnings report to be released after the bell. My pitchfork levels have been magnets for stock moves in close to 90% of the earnings reports. [Continue here and I will show you where NVDA could end up after they report.]( - Licia --------------------------------------------------------------- Join Licia's trading community and start receiving her Profits In Pumps Newsletter. [Click this link to sign up!](  [fprm] How I use my insider status to gain an edge Hey Insiders, I have a couple of weeks off from travel. Come June, it is going to kick back into high gear. I thought I’d take this time to tell you a little about me and Power Moves, and why Power Moves will help you become a better trader. I worked on Capitol Hill and was a D.C. lawyer. I then moved to NYC and worked for some of the top firms in finance. I have also helped start-ups in the National Security Space structure and raise money, including building out critical mineral supply chains and a military contracting company. Over my 35-year career working with government, the law, military and intelligence agencies, and public and private industries I have amassed a strong rolodex. I am a true D.C. insider, which provides me access to information that many people do not have. I use those contacts and that information to analyze the flow of money from D.C. to Wall Street, to formulate investment theses, and to build stock trades. Over the course of my career I did a lot of investing. But it was mainly long-only, buy and hold investing … and private placement investing. Not very exciting for traders as there is a lot of waiting and seeing. Too be honest, private placement investments are exciting, but they can take time to hit. A few years ago, I was introduced to Mark Sebastian, Andrew Giovinazzi, and the rest of the OptionPit team. I pitched them on a private equity idea. You see, private equity firms have specialists like me to help them find winning trade ideas. They also have highly skilled traders who know when to get in and out of trades, and how to structure them for maximum effect. We decided to launch an options strategy around my rolodex and ideas, with professional options traders crafting the trades. Power moves and Capitol Gains were born. Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to dig deeper into Power Moves, with five pieces on the following topics: - what does my kind of "insider" information mean and what does it provide; - how does analyzing the movement of money between D.C. and Wall Street actually work; - how has actual and proposed legislation, and executive actions, impacted stocks over the past 3 years; - what are the best sources of information on what is happening in D.C., the military, etc., and - based on recent announcements in D.C., what are the top 5 most likely investment trends over the next 6 months. Let’s dive into topic #1! The Value of Insider Information: How Exclusive Access Translates to Stock Market Success Introduction In the competitive realm of stock trading, having an edge can make the difference between substantial gains and disappointing losses. My unique background - spanning Capitol Hill, top financial firms in New York City, and start-ups in the national security space - has afforded me unparalleled access to insider information. This insider status, cultivated over a 35-year career across public and private industry, provides me with a distinct advantage in analyzing the flow of money from D.C. to Wall Street and predicting stock trades. In this first part of our series, we'll explore what I mean by insider information and such information can be harnessed to achieve significant investment success. What is My “Inside” Information? Let’s be clear up front – there is a big difference between insider information and inside information, I’m not trading on the kind of insider information that congress people trade in without consequence and gets you and me into trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Inside information, in the context of my work, refers to knowledge about government activities, legislative developments, and political movements that can influence the financial markets. This information is often acquired through personal connections and informal networks before it hits the airways, allowing for a more nuanced and timely understanding of upcoming changes that can affect market dynamics. Part of the art is simply understanding how Washington works … what is rumor vs. fact; Kabuki theater vs. reality; etc. Often, I craft short-term trades that initially take advantage of rumors before settling into a longer-term, fact-based trade. The Power of an Extensive Network Building a robust rolodex over three and a half decades is no small feat. My network includes senior officials, military personnel, intelligence operatives, industry leaders, and influential figures across various sectors. These contacts trust me and share insights that are not available through conventional channels. I also have the privilege of being invited to many think-tank sessions that the general public does not even know exist. This network is a cornerstone of my ability to obtain early warnings about significant policy shifts, regulatory changes, and strategic decisions that impact market conditions. Real-Time Insights and Early Warnings One of the most significant advantages of inside information is the ability to receive real-time updates and early warnings. While the general public relies on press releases and news reports, my network provides immediate insights. For example, knowing who testified before a House committee about a pending defense contract before it is officially voted on and publicly announced allows for strategic investment decisions that capitalize on the knowledge of who might receive defense spending. Similarly, I attend a lot of industry events, which allows me to see invites and sponsors, which is often a sign of pending success. This early access to information can lead to lucrative investment opportunities that others might miss. Understanding the Context and Nuances Inside information is not just about having access to facts before they hit the news, which is often a matter of hours or days, but is also about understanding the context and nuances that can significantly impact financial outcomes. My background in government and law, combined with my experience in finance and national security, enables me to interpret this information accurately. I understand the motivations behind policy decisions, the likely responses from various stakeholders, and the potential economic implications. This comprehensive understanding is crucial for making informed investment choices. Analyzing the Movement of Money Tracking the movement of money from D.C. to Wall Street involves monitoring government spending, regulatory changes, and policy shifts to understand their impact on financial markets. By combining inside information with advanced data analytics, I can identify sectors and companies poised for growth. For instance, a significant increase in defense spending often signals a boost for defense contractors. Similarly, new environmental regulations might negatively impact traditional energy companies while creating opportunities for renewable energy firms. Legislative Actions and Market Reactions Legislative actions and executive orders can cause substantial market movements. Analyzing these shifts involves understanding the political landscape, the likelihood of certain policies being enacted, and their potential economic consequences. This requires a keen awareness of legislative processes and key players in government. My insider status provides access to preliminary drafts of legislation, insider perspectives on policy discussions, and behind-the-scenes negotiations. This information, combined with public data, creates a more accurate and timely analysis. Case Study: The Impact of Defense Spending To illustrate the power of inside information, consider the case of defense spending. Over the past year, my network provided early insights into increases in defense budgets and upcoming contracts. By analyzing this information, I identified key defense contractors that were likely to benefit. Investing in these companies before the public announcements resulted in significant returns. This case demonstrates how insider information, combined with data analysis, can lead to successful investment strategies. Navigating Regulatory Changes Regulatory changes can have profound effects on industries and individual companies. By staying informed about upcoming regulations, I can predict which sectors will face challenges and which will benefit. But, again, nuance is critical. For example, stricter environmental regulations might negatively impact fossil fuel companies, but understanding that the Biden administration’s push for renewable energy will require increases in critical mineral mining allowed us to see contrarian opportunities. Insider information on regulatory changes allows for strategic positioning in the market. The Role of Political Intelligence Political intelligence plays a crucial role in my analysis. Understanding the political landscape, including the priorities of key policymakers and the dynamics within legislative bodies, is essential for anticipating market movements. My background in government and my extensive network provide access to insider perspectives on policy discussions and legislative strategies. This intelligence is invaluable for making informed investment decisions. Conclusion The true value of inside information lies in its exclusivity and the depth of understanding it provides. My extensive network and experience enable me to access and interpret this information, offering a significant advantage in predicting market movements and making strategic investments. My advantage is not just about having access to information before it becomes public, but also about understanding the context, nuances, and potential implications. This insider’s perspective is the cornerstone of my ability to analyze the flow of money from D.C. to Wall Street. Stay tuned for the next installment in our series, where we will explore the intricacies of analyzing the movement of money between D.C. and Wall Street, and how this analysis can be applied to make successful stock trades. - Frank --------------------------------------------------------------- Get all your DC Insider info inside of Frank Gregory's "Power Movies" Newsletter. [Click this link to sign up!]( --------------------------------------------------------------- Don't miss when our traders go live!
