Daily Live Schedule [fstp, logo, header] May 13, 2024 [ag views, logo, header] The Most Nervous, not nervous market ever!!!! For my [Trading Desk folks and Weekly Profit Cycles]( folks, they know that a flat curve means some excitement coming for VIX within a week or so. Sometimes as little as two days, say like when the PPI number comes out. 9 day VIX is running 13.71 or just over VIX cash. That means short term, traders are looking for a move tomorrow and they expect it to outpace the current VIX level.. [ded] That means about 1% at least in SPX either way. This is also the lowest VIX and implied vol numbers we have had going into a big number in 2024. So folks are nervous about it, just not a lot. I still think ATH highs are going to happen this week once the numbers come out and VIX hits a low for the year. On the off chance the PPI number is much worse, we should see 5100 in a big hurry. - AG  [logo, pit profits] Want to find YOUR winning fit? [vall]( Me, I am still trying to clear all of the fallen trees out of my cove that got crushed in early April. I am sure the clammer, who is a nice gent, appreciates the work I am doing to clear things out. It is good exercise at the end of the day moving logs and setting up the biggest bonfire ever. It has been a very active winter with many calamities here on the G rock in Maine but things are coming together in the spring. Look for my “how not to clam” video coming soon. [vall]( The trees growing too big on the coastline is a problem. The cliffside dirt is too shallow to support huge trees so they always end up in the water ripping up the shore line. They need to be cut down and have new ones pop up.  [A lot of trading is like my little cove parable.]( - Mark --------------------------------------------------------------- Want to get Mark's Trader's Edge updates directly to your inbox?[Click this link to sign up!](  [fpri] China ramping up Gold Buying Hey Income Hunters, China Is Buying Gold, Sending Prices to Record Highs – The New York Times (nytimes.com) Beijing is buying up gold to diversify its reserve funds and reduce its dependence on the U.S. dollar, long considered the most important currency to hold in reserve. China has been reducing its U.S. Treasury holdings for more than a decade. As of March, China had about $775 billion worth of U.S. debt, down from about $1.1 trillion in 2021. The impact on the world stage is clear … The end game for USD being the sole currency is here! A UK article this week drove the point home …  Xi Jinping’s vast gold war chest could let him take Taiwan without a fight (telegraph.co.uk) The more gold China has, the more credibility their currency (CNY) gains, which means more China’s trading partners will sell commodities directly to China in CNY. The more commodities China can buy in CNY, the fewer FX reserves (USTs) China needs to hold. Buying gold with foreign currencies makes China more powerful, while at the same time it defunds (weakens) the US government.
