A week in Barcelona, instagrammable hotels and learn the language of love with Calum Best... [Everything's better On the Beach]( The Extra Scoop! Dropping in your inbox on Thursdays! [The Extra Scoop]( [The Extra Scoop]( Hola Sunseekers! It may have just been Valentine’s Day but there’s no love in not having a holiday booked. How else are you going to get through these cold, glum days? You need something to look forward to. I’m always looking at holidays (it’s my job, to be fair) and I’m constantly wishing I was off to the airport for 5 am pre-flight beers and heading to the beach for a whole day baking under the sun. It’s that stuff that makes a holiday. None of this ‘idyllic seas’ rubbish. And when we’re cheaper on 8 out of 10 holidays for summer*, you may as well drop whatever you’re doing (it’s not more important than holidays, trust me) because it’s holiday-booking time. [Your secret admirer] [Surviving Sani Beach with Bear Grylls]( [Surviving Sani Beach with Bear Grylls]( No, you don’t need to survive Sani as if it’s The Walking Dead or Lost. It’s a 5* resort, for goodness sake. But you can try out the Bear Grylls Survival Academy which aims to combine family holiday fun with learning new skills and pushing yourself - all in beautiful surroundings. Why not go wild on holiday? Don’t worry though, you don’t have to drink your wee like Mr Grylls does from time to time. Just head to the bar for an ice-cold beer instead. Or a nice soft drink for the kids. No drama. [Book your Bear-style break >]( [Book your Bear-style break >]( [Surviving Sani Beach with Bear Grylls]( [Surviving Sani Beach with Bear Grylls]( [More Beach For Your Buck]( [More Beach For Your Buck]( The Syntopia is EXTRA. And I love it. It’s home to an outdoor cinema, frozen cocktails to sip on by the pool, a state-of-the-art gym to keep up that fitness routine, hammocks to lie down and laze around in. The list goes on and on and on. Their ultimate goal is to make the hotel as relaxing as possible from the minute you set foot in the door. Weird, because my ultimate goal is to feel relaxed. Funny how things work, isn’t it? I feel relaxed just writing this, so imagine how you’ll feel sprawled out on a sunlounger baking under that Greek sun. Is that a scream of excitement I just heard? I think it was. [This way to relaxation >]( [This way to relaxation >]( [Language of Love]( [Language of Love]( Dating apps? Pfft, no thanks. We’re going back to good ol’ holiday romances. Casting your eyes across the pool. Seeing your next love interest emerge from the depths, fully goggled up. Coughing and spluttering as the water just went up their nose. And you can’t help but fancy them. That’s where true connections are made. We’ve hired Love Island heartthrob Calum Best as our Holiday Romance Guru in our venture to reignite the spark when it comes to finding love (or something else 👀) on holiday. He’s coming through with some cheesy pick up lines to make sure you’re all set to mingle. We’ve even translated them into different languages, so no matter where you’re off to, you’re sorted. [Get your flirt on >]( [Get your flirt on >]( [A week in Beachside Barcelona from Luke our OTB insider]( [A week in Beachside Barcelona from Luke our OTB insider]( Beachside Barcelona. The city that also has a beach. The best of both worlds. Was it a good holiday? Oh, it was a good holiday. That’s for sure. As a little snapshot into the Barca lifestyle, here’s how I spent five days in the Spanish haven: Day 1: Land. Trunks packed in the top of the case (holiday = hacked). On. Beach. Dip in the sea. Sunbathe. Dip in the sea. Beer. And so on. Head to 1881 per SAGARDI, the rooftop bar overlooking the port. Day 2: Wake up with no alarm. Head to La Sagrada Familia (the big cathedral that’s not finished yet) for some history and culture. Buy a ticket to go inside. Trust me. It will blow you away. More tapas. More Estrella. Si senor. Day 3: Pool day. We stayed at Ocean Drive Barcelona. It was a top spot. It has a rooftop pool and a sky bar. Top up the tan. Head to El Nacional for tapas on the evening. Me gusta. Day 4: Take a stroll around Park Guell. Soak up some of Gaudi’s genius. Mosaics and that. It’s stunning. A load of colour and some beautiful views. Bosh. Day 5: Camp Nou. Even if you’re not a football fan, this is worth a visit. My girlfriend even said so. She hates football. A stunning stadium that’s full of character.
