But my blog had a much greater purpose for me personally: to help me stay sober after leaving a residential treatment center for alcoholism. You see, I struggled with severe postpartum anxiety and depression after having each of my four children. And I was often overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness. I ended up turning to alcohol as a way to cope with the pain I was feeling inside. But as you can imagine, that only added fuel to the fire, and my alcohol consumption quickly became an addiction. Finally, after several chaotic and self-destructive years, I checked into a residential treatment center for addiction. My âgraduationâ took place three months later, on my birthday. I now consider that day my âre-birthday,â when I was given a second chance at life. I left for home feeling terrified but determined to follow the advice my counselors had given me to âfind and pursue my passionâ in order to avoid ending up right back in treatment. Thatâs where my blog comes in. Focusing on âone good thingâ helped me find real joy and a sense of purpose in my role as a homemaker, both of which I lacked as a young mom. As more and more people visited my blog, I recognized that I had an opportunity to help people like me, overwhelmed homemakers who were battling demons of their own. Drawing on all of my skills and life experience, I dedicated myself to helping make life easier (and hopefully more enjoyable!) for anyone and everyone who does the important work of running a household. Now, I'm taking my best tips off the pages of my blog and bringing them into your homes with my newest product. It's called "Why Didn't I Think of That? 365 Tips & Tricks to Solve Life's Little Problems." It's a perpetual daily calendar featuring, you guessed it, "one good thing" per day! Like One Good Thing itself, this calendar features tips that cover every area of your home and life, from cleaning and laundry, to beauty and organization. And with a decade of research and testing under my belt, you can trust that every tip you'll find in these pages has received the OGT Seal of Approval! Now, you might be wondering, why a calendar and not, say, a book? And that's a great question! My goal has always been to sort through the clutter and help you simplify your life. When I was in the trenches as a young mom, a long book of advice would have overwhelmed me and quickly ended up forgotten on a dusty shelf somewhere, under a pile of bills. But this calendar is meant to live somewhere that you'll see it every single day. And because it features just one tip per day, you'll never be overwhelmed by the advice! I also want this calendar to serve as a reminder that you aren't alone in the piles of laundry and dirty dishes and that you don't have to figure it all out by yourself. I can't go back in time and stop the younger me from taking that first drink when life just got to be too much. But I can do my darndest to make the work of "keeping house" easier for YOU. To give you the ability to enjoy more of your home and the people you made it for. Now I've got even more good news for you! You can get your calendar for 30% off during my Spring Cleaning Sale! Plus, when you buy 3 calendars, youâll get 1 completely free! That takes the final price down to just $18.37 per calendar (regularly $34.99). At that price, it makes a perfect Easter gift for adult kids, or save a couple for Motherâs Day gifts! But Iâve only got a limited stock, so grab yours while you can.
