I have been captivated by this tome since I was first emailed an electronic copy before it was completed, finding myself repeatedly returning to it when I craved inspiration and beauty. Jane is an extraordinary photographer – she is intrepid, talented, prolific and has an eye that has always placed her at the top. She has worked in Antarctica, published books, won industry awards and is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She has also been working for NZ House & Garden for more than a decade, with her house and garden shoots and her portraits contributing significantly to the high standard of imagery the magazine is known for. Rooms showcases her inimitable talent and some of the country’s most breathtaking interiors. These include spaces that haven’t been seen in magazines before and probably never will. We’re privileged to be able to share some of the images from the book in our latest issue – including on the cover – on sale now. Next month will see the welcome return of the Aotearoa Art Fair (postponed for a year due to Covid) at The Cloud, Auckland, from November 16-20. The Gow Langsford Gallery will be one of the 40 participating galleries and in our new issue art dealer John Gow has opened his Auckland house to us. As you would expect it’s full of intriguing and beautiful artwork including paintings, sculpture and carvings. This is also the time of year when events and invitations ratchet up and we turn our minds towards entertaining. If you’re looking for ideas then our food editor Julie Le Clerc’s tapas recipes are perfect for sharing with friends and families. Likewise, our outdoor living Special Feature will help you prep your spaces for summer soirees outside.
