[NZ House & Garden]( Hi {NAME}, Food took centre stage in many homes during lockdown. Confined to four walls with more time on our hands, and restaurants and cafes closed meant many of us turned our attention to the kitchen - and to cooking. I have friends who experimented with cuisines they had previously never tasted and mastered dishes they had thought off-limits because they seemed too complex. Whilst my own efforts were on a much smaller scale, I did fall in love with cooking again. I tried a lot of new recipes and all of them were from NZ House & Garden. NZ House & Garden has always had a strong Food section which has also provided a showcase for a number of talented chefs, cooks and all-round foodies. We are continuing with that tradition and filling the pages of your favourite magazine with even more dishes you’ll want to try. I’ve chosen four recipes from our archives that I found both easy to make and delicious. They are all great for this time of year as temperatures drop and are good to enjoy solo or to share with friends and family. The Broccoli & Bacon Risotto can act as a base recipe, with the bacon and broccoli swapped out for whatever is in season. The no-stir aspect guarantees a place in your repertoire. Likewise, the Date & Apple Bake is simple but will impress. Happy cooking. Naomi Larkin Editor From the files Spring Pea and Miso SoupThe flavour of the miso with the peas in this soup mimics the umami flavour of pea and ham soup, but with a lighter feel that is just right for this time of year.
