1. House Republicans celebrated a major victory as they narrowly passed a bill [to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act](.
It [passed 217-213]( and goes to [the Senate next]( where there is little guarantee of the billâs survival in its current form.
The vote lends momentum to President Trumpâs Capitol Hill agenda, but it could also leave [moderate Republicans facing a backlash]( from their constituents.

2. President Trump [returned to New York]( for the first time since the inauguration to meet with [Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia]( a key U.S. ally.

3. Over 16 years, more people have died illegally crossing the southwestern U.S. border than from the Sept. 11 attacks and [Hurricane Katrina]( combined.

Iraqi forces opened a western front, aiming to force the Islamic State to fight in multiple directions and collapse its defenses.
The move trapped hundreds of thousands of civilians on an urban battlefield.

5. Gaffe-prone, but grumpily endearing.
Thatâs one way to describe [Prince Philip]( the 95-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II, whose retirement was announced by Buckingham Palace.
The news was an anticlimax after a [frenzy among the news media]( over speculation about a royal death, including one erroneously published (and unfinished) obituary.

6. In France, the aggressive tactics of the far-right presidential candidate [Marine Le Pen in Wednesdayâs televised debate]( did not appear to go over well.
Polls had her challenger, the centrist upstart Emmanuel Macron, above, ahead by 20 points. The vote is Sunday; hereâs [a breakdown]( of where the two stand on major issues.

7. Barack and Michelle Obama were in Chicago to unveil [renderings of the Obama Presidential Center]( this week.
They said the $500 million stone-and-glass complex on Lake Michigan would be a different kind of presidential library, with recording studios and recreational areas.
Itâs expected to be completed in 2021.

[Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of âMorning Joeâ]( on MSNBC, announced that theyâre engaged. They hadnât disclosed their romantic relationship before.
âIt was something I couldnât deny anymore,â Ms. Brzezinski told Vanity Fair.
