2. Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany is struggling to keep her government together [amid conflict over immigration policy](.
A stalemate with the Bavarian interior minister could topple her government and even end her long run as chancellor. After nearly 13 years in office, Ms. Merkel is at her weakest point.
Elsewhere in Germany, we visited President Trumpâs ancestral village. [In this dispatch from Kallstadt]( our correspondent looked into the relative silence of residents on the connection. âToo controversial,â according to a tourism official.

3. The West Wing is [reorganizing to focus on confirming a Supreme Court nominee]( to fill the seat of Justice Anthony Kennedy.
One shift: Raj Shah, the deputy press secretary, will move to coordinating the presidentâs messaging about the nomination, which Mr. Trump has said he will announce next Monday.
[On our podcast âThe Daily,â]( we talk with Senator Susan Collins, Republican of Maine, one of just a few senators who may hold the nomineeâs fate in their hands. She says she will not vote for any nominee who seeks to overturn Roe v. Wade and its guarantee of abortion rights.

5. âI put family and country first.â
That was [Michael Cohen, President Trumpâs longtime fixer]( answering the ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos. The question: What he would do if prosecutors looking at his business dealings â including hush money for women with accounts of affairs with Mr. Trump â offered leniency in exchange for incriminating information?
And [Brian Ross, the chief investigative correspondent for ABC News]( is leaving the network seven months after botching a report involving Mr. Trump and the Russia investigation.

6. A minimum wage for Uber and Lyft drivers?
New York Cityâs taxi commission is considering [new pay rules for ride-hailing apps]( that would set a minimum rate of $17.22 an hour after expenses.

7. It has arrived: delivery in the shadow of Mount Everest.
[Amazon, carrying big ambitions to expand in India]( has recruited small businesses to get packages to remote customers. How remote? Try 11,562 feet up in the Himalayas.

8. Brazil eliminated Mexico from the World Cup with a 2-0 shutout. Above, Neymar, who opened the scoring in the 51st minute.
The defeat and the stage for it are [sadly familiar for Mexico](. The team departs the tournament in its first knockout-round game for the seventh straight World Cup â a stunning run of bad losses, bad matchups and just plain bad luck.
And [Belgium triumphed]( in a 3-2 heartbreaker for Japan, which had led by 2-0.
Hereâs [our full coverage]( of the tournament. And [our Offsides newsletter]( brings updates and analysis straight to your inbox, twice a week.

10. Finally, some incredible news from northern Thailand: 12 boys and their soccer coach were found after nine days of being trapped in a cave.
They were penned in by floodwaters [during a visit to the Tham Luang Cave complex]( a popular tourist attraction. The riveting, desperate search involved hundreds of people from some 20 government agencies and half a dozen nations.
You can see the boys, who range in age from 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach, [in this brief Facebook video]( posted by the Thai Navy SEALs.
Have a great night.
