[View in browser]( [Forward]( [Donate]( [The New York Public Library] NYPL is raising $350,000 to purchase 17,500 new books, e-books, and audiobooks. [Donate today and receive a free bookplate sticker.]( How much does it cost to offer free access to millions of books? Consider just a few numbers: - We have 57.5 million books, materials, and research collection items - There are more than 2.4 million library cardholders - We issued almost 36,000 new cards in July alone - In June and July, we had 14,500 new or newly returned borrowers of children’s and young adult materials When it comes to keeping our shelves stocked, here’s the most important figure: the average cost for a new book at the Library—physical or electronic—is $20. Demand for our resources is soaring. As we prepare to purchase 17,500 new books, can we count on you to pitch in? [Donate $25—We Receive $50]( (That’s 2.5 books!) [Donate $50—We Receive $100]( (That’s 5 books!) [Donate $100—We Receive $200]( (That’s 10 books!) [Kick off our Book Fund campaign today by making a gift.]( As a thank you for your support, we'll send you an NYPL bookplate sticker to personalize a book in your own collection. We want the Library to be as prepared as possible to continue to meet the needs of all New Yorkers. But adding to our collections is expensive, which is why we’re asking for your help. [Donate and get your NYPL bookplate sticker today!]( The money we raise now will cover the expense of not only buying books, but shipping them to branches across the city, putting them on bookshelves, and making them available physically and digitally for patrons to access for free. New Yorkers depend on the Library more than ever. Can we count on you to help us out? [Make your first-ever gift to the Library and help us reach our goal! Your Book Fund donation will be matched and will go twice as far toward restocking our collections online and on our shelves.]( As a sign of our appreciation, we’ll send you an NYPL bookplate sticker.
