Now Open | Stephen A. Schwarzman Building
Explore larger-than-life illustrations by award-winning cartoonist and 2020–21 NYPL Cullman Center Fellow Peter Kuper in this immersive exhibition that traces the evolution of insects over 400 million years and narrates their intersection with humans. During his fellowship, which coincided with the first wave of the pandemic and the Library's temporary physical closure, Kuper frequently found himself alone in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building and began imagining arthropods occupying this unexpectedly vacant environment. Those imaginings come to life in this exhibition, which highlights the contributions of entomologists and other naturalists represented in the Library’s vast collections.
