Reserve a spot, and our Admissions team will contact you to confirm your Audition and Workshop space. 17 Battery Pl, New York, NY 10004 November 4, 2023 --------------------------------------------------------------- College Scholarship Auditions 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EDT Our Auditions offer NYFA Long-Term program applicants an opportunity to demonstrate their talents for program acceptance and to assess their eligibility for partial Talent Based Scholarships. To schedule an Audition, attendees must first submit an application to a NYFA 1 or 2 year certificate or degree program starting in 2024. Auditions are not required for most of our short-term or online workshops. Broadway veteran and NYFA Musical Theatre Chair, Kristy Cates, will guide you through the process of making your performance active, accessible, and unforgettable. Kristy Cates is the Chair of Musical Theatre at the New York Film Academy. Kristy was a member of the original Broadway cast of Wicked (understudy to Idina Menzel). She went on to open the National Tour as Elphaba and played the role for a year in the highly acclaimed Chicago sit-down production. Other Broadway roles include Grandma Josephine in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and Miss Bassett in "Finding Neverland". Off-Broadway; The Marvelous Wonderettes (Missy), Fifty Million Frenchmen (Violet Hildegarde), Jerry Springer the Opera at Carnegie Hall, The Bardy Bunch (Shirley Partridge). Favorite select regional roles include Irene Malloy in Hello, Dolly, Mother in Ragtime, Betty Blake in The Will Rogers Follies, Fraulein Kost in Cabaret, and Gloria in Boeing Boeing. TV appearances: The Tony Awards, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Late Show with David Letterman, A Very Wicked Halloween, Broadway at the White House, Io Canto (Italy). Kristy is a professional voiceover artist for TV and radio commercials and has been heard of ads for Subway, Almay, Skyrizi, Chase Bank, and many others. She has been honored to both perform and teach all over the world. --------------------------------------------------------------- WORKSHOP: "Acting for Film, The Basics" 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. EDT Join actor Ben Mehl (You, The Good Wife) for a joyful and empowering workshop where you'll dive into the fundamentals of on-camera acting. Ben Mehl is best known for playing Dante in the hit Netflix series, "YOU", and is the star of the upcoming Hallmark movie, "My Christmas Guide".
