Her most recent feature film, the survival thriller Rust Creek, was released in theaters by IFC Midnight, hailed as "the feminist thriller Hollywood needs right now" by Harper's Bazaar. The film was ranked on Netflix at #3 for all film and television in the U.S. and remained in the top ten for over a week. Rust Creek made the top ten on Netflix across 40 countries. Certified "fresh," it is currently rated at 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. McGowan's first feature, the dramedy Kelly & Cal (starring Juliette Lewis & Cybill Shepherd), premiered at SXSW, where she won the Gamechanger Award. The film was released theatrically by IFC Films to rave reviews (71% on Rotten Tomatoes). McGowan started her career with award-winning short films Confessions of a Late Bloomer and Touch, which played at over a hundred festivals worldwide, winning the majority and qualifying for the Oscar. In television, the directed touts multiple credits, including Star Trek: Discovery for Secret Hideout/Paramount+, Titans for HBOMax, episodes of The Twilight Zone for Monkeypaw/Paramount+, and The Purge for Blumhouse/USA. McGowan is a member of The Academy. With her partner Eliza Lee, she co-created the series Angelica, about the last remaining abortion clinic in a small Midwest town, and Replica, the true story of a pair of unassuming high school teachers who, after their deaths, were discovered to have been prolific art thieves. She is the founder of Glass Elevator, the free international skill-sharing, networking & jobs resource for professional women in film & television. At that time, Glass Elevator had over 5,000 members who benefited from over 300 classes & events & access to over 700 jobs. Glass Elevator was named Best in LA by LA Weekly, part of the Sundance Women's Initiative Resource, and featured in Forbes. WeForShe selected her for the DirectHer program. A Film Independent Fellow, finalist for the Clint Eastwood Filmmakers Award, and recipient of the AWD Breakout Award for Excellence in Directing, she was named one of Vulture's Women Directors Hollywood Should Be Hiring. McGowan is a Co-Chair of the DGA Women's Steering Committee Squad Program. The director is attached to the sci-fi action feature film Capsule with Hutch Parker for 20th Century Studios and the contemporary Western pilot Crypto. Since 2017, she has trained as an amateur boxer with Golden Gloves champ Jill Morley and Gold Medal Olympian Wayne McCullough. In her free time, she hangs with her husband, documentary Director & Producer Phil Lott, and sadly until recently, their dog Ellie. McGowan is represented by APA and Echo Lake. [Liz Hinlein]( Liz Hinlein is an accomplished visual artist, DGA director, and creative director with a vast portfolio of critically acclaimed work across film, commercials, and immersive media. Her debut narrative feature, Other People's Children, premiered at the Director's Guild of America and garnered high praise from Variety as "an intriguing debut." The film received multiple film festival honors, including the prestigious Panavision New Filmmakers Grant, and is currently available for viewing on Apple Tv+ and Amazon Prime. Liz's short films have been screened globally at renowned festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival, Slamdance, and The Hamptons Film Festival. In the immersive space, her documentary VR experience, OSAGE '85, is currently supported by the Venice Biennale. Liz's work in the VR/AR space has earned recognition from clients such as the NFL, Walmart, Accenture, and Byton Auto, with her Accenture project winning Best VR Branded Content at CES. As a sought-after director for high-profile commercials, branding videos, and music videos, Liz has worked with a diverse range of brands and artists, including Castrol Oil, Dove, Lifetime, Revlon, Gillette, Maybelline, A&E, Wella, NARS Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Clairol, and MAC Cosmetics. She has also creatively directed and photographed projects for renowned artists such as Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, Quincy Jones, Incubus, and Fishbone. Liz is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and holds an MFA in Cinematography from The American Film Institute. She is also the Creative Director of Film and Cinematography at the New York Film Academy, where she created and hosts the popular Zoom talk show series The 20/20 Online Series, which amassed over 1.5 million followers. Currently, Liz is in pre-production on OSAGE '85, which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
