[Maggie Greenwald]() Award-winning writer-director Maggie Greenwald’s most recent feature film, Sophie and the Rising Sun, appeared at Sundance in 2016 as the Salt Lake City Gala’s World Premiere. The film stars Julianne Nicholson, Margo Martindale, Lorraine Toussaint, and Diane Ladd. Produced by Nancy Dickenson, Lorraine Gallard, Brenda Goodman, and Maggie Greenwald, the film was the director/writer's third film at the Sundance Film Festival. Greenwald’s first film, Home Remedy, screened at the Munich, London, and Torino Film Festivals before opening at the prestigious Film Forum in New York in 1987. Her following film, The Kill-Off, a noir thriller based on a novel by Jim Thompson, appeared at film festivals around the world, including Sundance, Munich, London, Florence, Deauville, Toronto, and Edinburgh before winning the Best Director Award at the Torino Film Festival. The film is acknowledged by the British Film Institute as one of the "100 Best American Independents." Greenwald followed this with her original, acclaimed, groundbreaking Western, The Ballad of Little Jo. The film was released worldwide by Fine Line Features and Polygram Filmed Entertainment in 1993. It won an Independent Spirit Award for co-star David Chung. The film starred Suzy Amis, Ian McKellan, and Bo Hopkins. Subsequently, Greenwald wrote and directed her music-based drama, Songcatcher, inspired by early country ballads. The film premiered in Dramatic Competition at Sundance in 2000, where it garnered a Special Jury Award for Ensemble Performance. Additionally, the film received the first Sloan Foundation Award, Deauville Film Festival Audience Award, two Independent Spirit Award nominations, and a GLAAD Award nomination. A Lions Gate release, Greenwald also directed the teen drama, The Last Keepers, starring Zosia Mamet, Aidan Quinn, Virginia Madsen, and Olympia Dukakis. Greenwald directed the Hallmark Christmas film The House on Honeysuckle Lane. Earlier, she directed two episodes of Madam Secretary and Nashville. Her TV films include the GLAAD Award-winning, What Makes a Family starring Brooke Shields, Whoopi Goldberg, and Cherry Jones, Tempted starring Virginia Madsen, and introducing Jason Momoa, and Comfort and Joy for Lifetime Television. She also directed Get a Clue starring Lindsey Lohan and Brenda Song, for the Disney Channel, Good Morning, Killer starring Catherine Bell, for TNT, and episodes for The Adventures of Pete & Pete, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, and Wildfire. [Liz Hinlein]() Award-winning DGA director & DP Liz Hinlein was born in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, her graduation film, White Boys Can’t Dance, based upon her twin brother, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Her debut feature film, Other People’s Children, about an artist who falls in love with a charismatic homeless man was called an “intriguing debut” by Variety. It premiered at the Director’s Guild of America, was awarded the Panavision New Filmmakers Grant and screened at multiple film festivals earning several awards including ‘best director,’ ‘best feature film,’ and the ‘audience award.’ She has directed commercials, VR/AR experiences, and music videos for artists and well-known brands such as Walmart, Castrol, NFL, Dove, Lifetime, Revlon, Gillette, Maybelline, A&E, Wella, NARS Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Clairol, and MAC Cosmetics among others. Additionally, Liz has created films and photo campaigns for many superstar musicians including Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, Quincy Jones, Incubus, and Fishbone. Her VR film for Byton Auto was nominated for Best Branded Entertainment/Commercial at the 2019 CES and she won the 2018 CES Best Branded Entertainment/Commercial award for Accenture’s VR film, Behind The Style. Since 2020, Liz has been the Creative Director of Filmmaking and Cinematography at the New York Film Academy. There she created the popular weekly creative zoom series called, The 20/20 Series. Projects in development include an VR/AR immersive documentary/fiction experience, OSAGE ’85, inspired by the revolutionary Philadelphia organization Move.
