[Forward this email to a friend](. Dear {NAME}, Iâm in the midst of my How Not to Age speaking tour, taking a short break before heading back on the road. So far, Iâve been to Copenhagen, London, Florida, California, Colorado, Minnesota, and more. To see if Iâll be coming to a location near you, check out my [tour calendar](. (Tip: If you show up to a book signing and get in line wearing [NutritionFacts.org merch]( you get to jump to the front of the line!) Our new four-week book club series was a blast! Each week, I covered one section of the book and gave a summary of highlights before answering participantsâ questions. If you registered for the book club, you now have access to all four parts. If you missed it, you can now get the series as a [digital download on Dr.Greger.org](. I want [my books]( to be as accessible as possible, so please consider requesting your local library to carry them. [Focus: Common Cold
]( Focus: Chickpeas Chickpeas and other legumes straddle both the protein and vegetable groups. Theyâre loaded with protein, iron, and zinc, as you might expect from other protein sources like meat, but legumes also contain nutrients that are concentrated in the vegetable kingdom, including fiber, folate, and potassium. You get the best of both worlds with chickpeas, all while enjoying a food that is naturally low in saturated fat and sodium, and totally free of cholesterol. [Chickpeas]( Our Most Heartfelt Thanks to Our Executive Director After ten years at NutritionFacts.org, Katie Schloer will be stepping down from her role as Executive Director. During her tenure, Katie grew the team from 4 to 21 staff members, managed all of our operations and organized much of the behind-the-scenes work we do. She oversaw our international expansion with the creation of our Spanish and Chinese programs, the release of six of my [books]( (four of which became New York Times Best Sellers!), and the launch of my [live webinars]( and their subsequent Continuing Medical Education Credits. Along with our staff, board, and volunteers, I thank her for the leadership and vision she's provided NutritionFacts.org over the last decade and for all of her hard work towards making the world a healthier place. Congratulations, Kate While we will miss Katie, we are excited to share that Kate Porigow, our current Senior Director of Programs, will step into the role of Executive Director. Kate has been a vital member of the team for almost eight years and knows the ins and outs of NutritionFacts.org better than anyone. She has excelled at overseeing much of the content creation process, along with closely working with each staff member to ensure that our programs are as effective as they can be. Please join me in welcoming Kate into her new role! Welcoming Clare We are also excited to welcome Clare Farrow. Clare joined us in October to coordinate my speaking tour for How Not to Age, and her role has expanded to include supporting our media and fundraising efforts. After going plant-based more than a decade ago, she dedicated her career to nonprofits advocating for a more just and humane food system. Clare lives in Philadelphia, PA, where she is often hiking with her dog, winning at pickleball, or losing at board games. My new volume of videos is out now. This volume includes a series on fluoride, collagen, and resveratrol, as well as videos on adrenal fatigue and exercise for weight loss.
Each video in this new volume will be released online over the next few monthsâavailable for free, of courseâbut if you don't want to wait, you can stream all of them [right now](. If you are a $15+ monthly supporter and opted in to our [donor rewards]( you already received a complimentary link to the new volume. If youâd like early access to new videos before theyâre available to the public, please consider becoming a [monthly supporter](. Without your generosity, we wouldnât be able to continue our work. Thank you! All of our videos are captioned in several languages. To find yours, click on the settings wheel in the lower-right corner of the video and then âSubtitles/CC.â (You can also watch [our video]( about changing your settings.) Happy viewing! [Stream Volume 65 Now]( I have been volunteering with NutritionFacts.org for a couple of years. Though my background is in graphic design, my goal is to contribute to the science-based nutrition conversation as much as I can. At NutritionFacts.org, I assist with various ongoing projects, such as website database management, video captioning, and editing. My interest in nutrition began after I learned of my significant food allergies, followed by my motherâs diagnosis of Alzheimerâs disease. Iâve been eating a whole food, plant-based diet for about five years now, and Iâm the healthiest I have ever been. It feels great to contribute to a cause that is so misunderstood and that benefits everyone. My favorite recipe is basil pesto. I could eat the entire recipe in one sitting! I use fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, lemon juice, silken tofu, and nutritional yeast. âDoni Hieronymus [Friday Favorites: Are Beyond Meat and the Impossible Burger Healthy?](
