If you only use one eating rule for the rest of your life, {NAME}… use this one. Want to eat for the leanest, healthiest body possible, {NAME}? It boils down to one principle I want you to write down now: Don’t eat foods that make you hungrier. Put this on your fridge. Write it on your mirror. Hang it over your door... whatever you have to do. This is the #1 rule of eating lean and clean. But which foods are the ones that make you hungrier? Put simply, they’re any foods that contain excessive amounts of two things: - Sugar (in any form) - Salt You see, these two flavor-boosters trip off reward signals in your brain that automatically increase your cravings. Basically, when you eat sugar or salt, your tastebuds tell your brain, “Hey, get a load of this stuff!” And your brain says back, “Yum! Take another bite of that!” Think about it. What are some foods you can’t put down? Chances are, they’re loaded with sugar, salt, or both. For instance, tell me if any of these foods came to mind just now: - French fries (salt) - Chocolate chip cookies (sugar and salt) - Potato chips (salt) - Chocolates (sugar) - Ice cream (sugar) - Chicken fingers (salt) - Gummy snacks (sugar) - Fruit juice (sugar) - Popcorn (salt) And by the way... one of the most addictive things of all — cola — takes sugar and salt... and combines them with caffeine! Why do you think so many people are hooked on this stuff? Now, the worst part of all of this... is that your cravings can stay up for hours after you consume sugary/salty foods. So, you wind up overeating everything in sight. The calories just pile on... and so does the body fat. So, to keep you off this slippery, fattening slope... let me give you a few easy ways to avoid hunger-spiking foods. Now, some of these are tips you've heard before. But with all of the "fad" diet advice going around, it's important to be reminded of what works: - Eat whole, fresh vegetables and fruits, which are loaded with filling fiber.  - Eat lean sources of protein — like pastured chicken and wild fish — that haven’t been drowned in salt.  - Be mindful of your sauces! Sauces, dressings, and marinades are often jam-packed with sugar and salt.  - Drink plenty of water, to keep you feeling full... and to protect you from mistaking thirst for hunger.  - Avoid processed foods whenever possible.  - Read ingredient labels and check for hidden sugar and/or high levels of sodium in any food you buy.  - When you eat out, ask about low-sodium, low-sugar options. And, just to make sure the server takes your request seriously... tell them it’s doctor’s orders. ;)  - On the weekend, you can relax the rules a little (but don’t go crazy). After all, I want you to be able to stick to this “diet.” If you follow these tips, I guarantee you’ll find yourself eating less and getting slim more easily... not to mention feeling much healthier. You see, this is the way you were truly meant to eat. Your food is supposed to fill you up and nourish you... not make you hungrier and fatten you!
