What would YOU do in her shoes, {NAME}? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. {NAME}, what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? There’s a reason I ask… It all started last week, when I was waiting in line at the grocery store. Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me. “Amy?” I turned around and realized it was Joanne — one of my best friends from high school. I hadn’t seen her in over a decade! We gave each other a huge hug and began excitedly catching up and reminiscing about our high school days. Back then, Joanne and I were incredibly close. We spent most weekends at each other’s houses, where we’d talk for hours about what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wanted to be a doctor, and Joanne — who was an amazing dancer and singer — wanted to move to New York and become a Broadway star. (I used to joke that she was going to forget us ‘little people’ when she became famous one day.) Unfortunately, after graduation, we went our separate ways… and eventually, we lost touch. So when I saw Joanne that day, there was something I just had to know: “How are you liking New York?” Suddenly, Joanne’s face changed. She turned away, her eyes toward the floor — she seemed uncomfortable. I could tell my question had upset her, but I wasn’t sure why. “Oh,” she said. “I actually never made the move to New York.” What?! I couldn’t believe it. Moving to the ‘Big Apple’ had been Joanne’s dream her whole life — I was shocked to hear that she hadn’t gone. I figured she’d say she’d found a new passion — or that perhaps she’d changed her mind about performing. But that wasn’t the reason. “Oh you know,” she said, “I went on a couple of auditions. Nothing ever came of it... so I stayed here. I was never that good anyway.” Well, hearing her say that nearly broke my heart. Joanne loved performing more than anything — and she was GREAT at it. But she was so convinced she’d fail... that she stopped performing altogether. “I’ve got to admit,” she added, “Part of me DOES wonder what my life would be like if I’d given it a shot.” Now that was something I could relate to. In fact, I’m sure a lot of us can... especially here in the Nucific community. When it comes to our health, we ALL have things that hold us back — our confidence, our body image, our insecurities, heck, even our digestive issues... And when those things get in the way… it can be hard to put yourself out there. So today I’m wondering, {NAME} — what if that WEREN’T the case? If you knew there was ZERO chance you could fail… what would YOU do? And keep in mind — it doesn’t have to be something huge. Maybe you’d try a zumba class at your gym… or run a 5k by the end of this year. Maybe you’d start doing yoga… walk 10,000 steps every day… or play a sport you used to enjoy as a kid. Whatever your answer is, I’d love to hear about it. Just hit ‘reply’ on this email to share your goal. And remember — you’re never alone in your struggle. My door is always open... and I’m here for you every step of the way!
