Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle tour stops this week Hello from the road! The Tiny Desk Conte

Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle tour stops this week [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( Hello from the road! The Tiny Desk Contest team, along with our 2023 winner Little Moon, is currently on the West Coast to kick off the first leg of this year’s [Tiny Desk Contest On The Road tour]( — and we can’t wait to meet many of you in person. Tonight in Los Angeles, local Contest acts [alegrías]( and [Anilee List]( will be opening for Little Moon. You may remember alegrías from when Contest judges Albina Cabrera of KEXP and series producer Bobby Carter [featured its entry on Top Shelf](. The group was also featured by NPR member station KCRW’s [Young Creators Project]( last year. The members said that “alegrías is Spanish for multiple joys,” so we know they’ll kick off our show on a celebratory note. And Anilee List’s entry, “[Pretty Walls]( was also favored by our judges, who noted her impressive voice and flawless performance. Then on Thursday, we’ll head North to San Francisco for an eclectic show with openers [Flaco el Jandro y Los Perros Callejeros]( and [Asher Jaffe](. And on Friday in Seattle, standout entrants [LIVt]( and [La Fonda]( will be opening the night. Bobby will be in attendance at all these West Coast shows and Albina will join him in Seattle, so be sure to say hello if you can make it! The 2023 Tiny Desk Contest is presented by Capital One and supported by Guayakí Yerba Mate. --------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter continues after sponsor message --------------------------------------------------------------- This weekend, Little Moon will perform in Atlanta as part of WABE’s annual [Mixtape Block Party]( where local Contest artists J Nolan, Vahn Black, IVEEN and Uncle Bubz will also be performing. This is a one-of-a-kind free showcase, so if you’re in Atlanta, we hope to see you there. In other recent Contest news: Our friends at Weekend Edition have begun sharing stories from Contest artists. Last Saturday, Helder Tsinine of Kina Zore shared the story behind his unique entry, “Covid-19,” which was recorded in a kitchen, employing the island as a desk and pots, pans and jars as instruments.
