November updates from the Contest community [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( November was another busy month for the Contest community — and we have a feeling next month will be even busier (hint: big announcement coming soon). At the beginning of November, we published a [Tiny Desk concert with NoSo]( who we first discovered when they entered the 2019 Tiny Desk Contest. NoSo's soft-spoken nature and musical dexterity stood out to us in 2019, and shines through now in the intimate close quarters of the Tiny Desk. They say releasing [their debut record]( and playing a Tiny Desk three years after submitting to the Contest feels like "a real full-circle moment” and “a dream come true.” 2021 Contest winner NEFFY released a [new song called “I Lost My Nerve]( which [she says]( is about “navigating everything on my own in the [music] industry, but then still getting it done, still putting it out there.” In an interview with [Atwood Magazine]( she shares what keeps her committed to music, how she deals with doubt and continues to grow and learn as an artist. In other winner news: 2022 Contest winner Alisa Amador will be on tour in December! And she’ll be visiting a handful of places we missed on our On The Road tour last June — [you can grab your ticket here](. --------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter continues after sponsor message --------------------------------------------------------------- Our friends at NPR Member station WFSU in Tallahassee, Fla., featured three Contest artists’ entry songs in their [podcast Not So Black And White]( this fall. O’She Tyght’s “I.D.,” Lyrically True’s “Live In Truth” and Blyke_Love’s “Juneteenth Everyday,” helped ground the new podcast, which explores the area’s divided racial history, in community. Also, we’re thrilled to see that our first ever Contest winner Fantastic Negrito and our 2017 winner Tank and the Bangas were [nominated for Grammy awards]( (We’d be remiss not to mention that this is the second time Tank has been nominated and Fantastic Negrito has already won three Grammy awards.) We love seeing artists improve from the Tiny Desk to the big stage, and being [part of their stories]( as they grow. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
