Hear from our winner, plus join us On The Road [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( “The thing about entering the Contest for me is that it was never about winning, ever,” said our humble 2022 Contest winner Alisa Amador in [an interview with WBUR]( last week. “It was about being part of a community.” ([A pretty great one]( if we do say so ourselves.) “‘Contest’ feels like a funny word,” Alisa added, “when it really feels so much more about music community, and building community, and connecting people with each other and inspiring each other and reminding each other that we exist during this pandemic." Last week, Alisa also [spoke with NPR All Things Considered]( host Mary Louise Kelly about why she decided to submit to the Contest for a fifth time, the struggles of being an independent musician and how winning the Contest has felt like an “intervention from the universe.” Alisa’s Tiny Desk concert, which is the first performance behind Bob’s Desk this year (and only the second since March 2020), will be here soon — so stay tuned. --------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter continues after sponsor message --------------------------------------------------------------- And to keep the celebration rolling, we’re kicking off [the first stop]( of our Tiny Desk Contest On The Road tour in Washington, D.C. this evening! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
