Watch the first entry and more [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( Since we opened the 2022 Contest last week, your entries have been rolling in! We’ve received entries from almost every state in the country and from every genre under the sun. The very [first entry submitted to this year’s Contest]( comes from Belle-Skinner, an indie folk artist from New York. In her entry video for “Song of the Silent,” she preaches hope and understanding, singing with her acoustic guitar in front of a desk. “I hope it means something to someone out there,” Belle-Skinner told us. Belle-Skinner has entered the Contest every year since 2016. We love seeing [artists return to the Contest year after year]( and we think their dedication is something to be proud of. And we also love to hear from newcomers! So whether this is your first, second, third or even eighth year entering the Contest, we want to hear from you. [ENTER NOW]( Contest artist Alex Bondarev of New York band Conversing with Oceans has been busy since the Contest opened last week. On Friday [he hosted the fifth Tiny Bronx Contest]( an annual event that showcases local talent in the Bronx and also serves as an opportunity for Contest bands to record their entries. You can learn more about the origins of the Tiny Bronx Contest in [this piece]( from NPR’s Weekend Edition. --------------------------------------------------------------- We can’t wait to watch more of your videos. Keep in mind that even if you don’t win the Contest, submitting is still a great way to share your music with the Tiny Desk team. Just last week, River Whyless, a band that entered the Contest in 2015, was [featured on All Songs Considered](. It’s [one of many acts]( we discovered through the Contest and eventually invited to perform behind Bob Boilen’s Tiny Desk. In Contest winner news: 2015 winner Fantastic Negrito recently released a new single, “[Highest Bidder]( along with the announcement of his forthcoming album and companion film, White Jesus Black Problems. And in the [latest episode of PBS Soundfield]( 2020 winner Linda Diaz breaks down how R&B singers create background vocals – and shares some insight into how she did this for her Contest-winning entry, “[Green Tea Ice Cream]( In Contest judge news: Last week Raveena released her latest album titled Asha’s Awakening. She [told NPR’s Morning Edition]( that for the album, she “kind of just wanted to really tap into [her] confidence, and tap into [her] bravery as an artist, to take risks.” We think this is good advice for anyone entering the Tiny Desk Contest, too. Best of luck! And a friendly reminder: [The Contest closes March 14](. From our own tiny desks,
