Plus, a programming note [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( What a week! Last Tuesday, we announced that Neffy, a singer-songwriter from Arlington, Va., is the winner of this year’s Contest. After Bob [shared the good news on NPR’s Morning Edition]( Neffy herself was [interviewed on NPR’s All Things Considered](. “Today has been absolutely wild,” she told ATC host Mary Louise Kelly. Neffy also shared more about her entry and being comfortable recording solo: “I've never had a huge band play behind me ... and being alone [in my entry] reflects the reality of a lot of people during this troubling time. But to be simple, it's just me and my guitar. It's always been that way.” On Wednesday, Bob included “Wait Up,” Neffy’s winning song, in his New Music Mix podcast episode of [All Songs Considered](. And on Friday, he interviewed Neffy in a [YouTube livestream](. They talked about what a whirlwind winning the Contest has been, how Neffy’s music-loving family inspired her to start writing songs as a teenager and how artists like Adele, Joan Armatrading and Tracy Chapman have influenced her music. They also played some of Neffy’s other performances, including a song called “Hangin' On Too Long" and her 2018 Contest entry, “Mrs. Jones.” We’ll be recording Neffy’s Tiny Desk (home) concert soon, so stay tuned. --------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter continues after sponsor message --------------------------------------------------------------- A programming note: Until we announce next year’s Contest (which will be here before you know it), we’ll now be in your inboxes monthly instead of weekly.
