Your entries by the numbers, plus the best entries we saw last week [View this email online]( [NPR Tiny Desk Contest]( Going through thousands of Tiny Desk Contest entries is no small task, but we love the challenge. Now that we’ve had the time to watch all your entries (and check for all your desks), all eligible entries are viewable on our [website entry browser](. We saw so much creativity and variety in your entries and thought we’d break it down by the numbers: - 50 states (plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands!) were represented in the Contest this year. This Contest community extends far and wide. - 71 animal friends doubled as band members in your entry videos. We’re not saying you can’t [bring them to the Tiny Desk if you win]( - 290 outdoor spaces were graced by your music, as you performed among trees and oceans and mountains. Our 2020 winner, Linda Diaz, knows it’s no small feat [recording in the wind](. - 361 of you who entered this year have entered the Contest at least three times before. It means a lot to us that you keep coming back. - 388 entries featured house plants. We’re all about artists [making themselves at home]( behind the Desk. - 960 of you heard about the Contest from a friend or family member. We think the Contest is worth talking about, too. - 1,715 of you entered on June 7, the day the Contest closed. Procrastinators, you’re in good company: [Tank and the Bangas]( submitted its winning entry in the final minutes of the 2017 Contest. - 2,561 of you entered for the very first time. That's a lot of new friends! --------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter continues after sponsor message --------------------------------------------------------------- On the blog last week, we shared the [fourth volume of 2021 entries we love](. The roundup includes songs that reflect on the current socio-political climate, celebrate Black identity and help you learn to live in the moment. If you want to watch all the entries we’ve written about on the blog this year — plus more entries we’ve loved over the years — you can view them all in [this playlist](. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
