It's not like I had the Midas touch when it came to business, {NAME}. In fact, it's almost like I

It's not like I had the Midas touch when it came to business, {NAME}. In fact, it's almost like I had the opposite effect, instead of turning things to gold, I turned them into dust, mere ideas, thrown to the wind & ether again. My notary business was on course to do the same. I was dragging my emotional baggage and bad habits right into this endeavor too. It was a roller coaster ride, for sure. In one of the extended down times, where my phone seemed to go silent for months on end, I decided I needed more stability. The road was calling. I decided to go to school to get my commercial driver license and be a longhaul trucker. As a kid, I admired those shiny big trucks, and envied the solo life of their drivers. I interviewed with the school recruiters...twice. They wanted me, and I wanted them. If I worked hard, I could make over $100,000 a year, they said. I'd never made that much money before, and I was desperate. Desperate to pay bills. Desperate for security. Desperate for confidence. But then the notary-phone rang. And rang again. And again. Perhaps a little dip in the interest rates and the planted seeds of relationships, networking, and dropped business cards began to spring forth. So I stuck with it. I figured it out. It still wasn't easy. I've learned to stop wishing for easy. Anything worth doing or having won't be easy. I often wonder what my life would look like today if I had enrolled with that trucking school. You and I certainly wouldn't know each other. I likely wouldn't have written and published my first book, much less four more books after that. I bet I would have quit the course anyway, and forfeited the tuition costs (I'm sure I would have had to borrow from my grandmother, btw). Yep, that would have been failure #27. How do I know? Because that was my habit. My work and experience as a notary entrepreneur is what helped transform that habit. Without it, I'd still be spinning my wheels, bouncing from one "easy" to the next. That's the beautiful piece of this journey we're on together, you and me, right now. When we work it, and stick to it, we share a business opportunity that can be the vehicle to take you to the life of your dreams.  Mine has helped me become a writer. That's been my dream since I was six years old. And now I've published my 5th book, one of short essays and stories, written with one of my best friends, thirty years my senior, that I met at a loan signing appointment. And that book we wrote, "Dandelions: A Pandemic-Era Writing Adventure With Two Unlikely Friends," is my first book to be featured in a bookstore. Wild. Twenty years ago, when I created my first "real" vision statement, "I am a beacon of love and light, traveling the world, meeting interesting people, and writing the words that touch move, and inspire people up off the couch of life to live their dream lives," I had no idea it would take the form of a notary public business in Arizona (and now Washington). You don't have to have it all figured out at the beginning. But you do have to keep going. Even when you're afraid, or when your desperate. It's okay to get a job or two in between. It's okay to drive for Uber, or consider trucking school. Do what you have to do, but keep going. Let this community motivate and support you. They're really good at that, and so are you. You never know who you will meet, or where you may go with this business, this vehicle of dreams. You may find yourself excitedly sharing about your first bookstore placement... Or grand opening... Or launch... You just never know. So, on this, Independent Bookstore Day, if you have it in you to support Bobbi and I by purchasing our book, "Dandelions," from the Watermark Book Company in Anacortes, Washington, we'd be deeply grateful. Watermark is an indie store in my new hometown, and they are the first to agree to carry our book. They'll ship a signed copy to you. The book is the same price as it is on Amazon, $21.99. Shipping is a little more expensive because they send via media mail at the USPS, but it's under $10 for most parts of the US. And, it has to be done the old-fashioned way, by calling in to speak to Amberly, Jaycee, or Brandy (who are AMAZING, by the way). Here's their phone number: [+1 360-293-4277]( Here is the link to their Google Business Profile (See everyone has one!): [( They're open until 5:30pm Pacific time today and from 11am-4pm Pacific time tomorrow (Sunday).
