{NAME}, After a great start to the year book-wise, I've only got two recommendations this month — but they are both excellent! [Educated]( - The story of Tara Westover, a woman who escaped a fundamentalist family and abusive brother, was an incredibly powerful story on how your upbringing doesn't determine your destiny. Incredibly well written, Tara never goes to school but ends up at Cambridge on a scholarship. This book came out a few years ago and was a quick bestseller and it lives up to all the type. [Get it on Bookshop]( | [Get it on Amazon]( [The Best of Wanderlust](=) - This collection of travel stories is edited by Don George and features stories by Pico Iyer, Tom Cahill, Isabelle Allende, Tahir Shah, and so many other amazing writers. If you're craving incredible, evocative travel writing, this book is a must-read. Best of all, it's free to download! [Click here to download your free copy!](=) (It's a free PDF) SUMMER WRITING WORKSHOP If you're a travel writer, Don is also running two in-depth writing workshops in Paris this summer: July 6-11 and July 16-21. Don is one of the best travel writers in the planet and has mentored or edited everyone over the course of his lifetime. There's no one better to learn from. The workshop will be a rich mix of lectures, guided wanderings, writing exercises, free time for writing, group discussions, and one-on-one meetings — all in the glorious setting of Paris! One of our own writers will be attending it too! To learn more, you can [click here to email Don](=) or paste don.george@sbcglobal.net in to your email client. THE VAGABOND WAY SERIES At the start of the year, we kicked off a new monthly book club event with best-selling author Rolf Potts. We're reading his newest book The Vagabond's Way and Rolf Potts himself is joining us monthly to discuss it. All you have to do is read one page per day. On the first Wednesday of the month, we’ll have Rolf Potts join us to discuss what we’re reading, what we’re getting out of it, and how the practice of meditating daily on travel is allowing us to open our minds to new trains of thought. [Join us to discuss the next 30 pages on April 5th!](=) **** If you’re looking for even more suggested books, be sure to [check out all my favorites on Bookshop](=). It's not as cheap as Amazon but the site helps small, independent books. (But, if you only use Kindle or live elsewhere, [here's the Amazon link](.) Best, Nomadic Matt P.S. - While I appreciate everyone sending me their books, I have a long, long, long reading list and I can't accept any books to review or feature here. I appreciate you offering but, if the universe wills it, I will find your book and read it and put it here. Thanks. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
