Dear {NAME}, Today is the last day for our fundraiser - and I need your help. You and I know the power of travel. Travel gives us added perspective, broadens our horizons, and helps us dream big. No one who has gone traveling comes back the same. We come back with bigger dreams, goals, and desires. Today, I come to you for your help to give this power to the students of Excelsior Academy in Newburgh, NY, to Quito, Ecuador in June. The students will volunteer at Casa Victoria, a grassroots community betterment program located in a struggling section of Quito, and work with local students in an after-school program. Not only will they get to experience another culture, language, country, and continent but they will also contribute while there. Theres are the students (and their teachers) we're sending: As you know, last year I started a nonprofit called [FLYTE (The Foundation for Learning and Youth Travel Education)](). The goal of the organization is to help underserved high schools around the United States go on educational trips, and to fund these overseas journeys for communities and students who could least afford it. I want FLYTE to help expand the minds of the youth of tomorrow, to show them that there is a big world out there, and that they can dream past their small towns Newburgh, once a thriving manufacturing center on the Hudson River, has faced deindustrialization and failed urban renewal attempts that have left the town struggling both financially and socially. Complicating the matter, the Newburgh school district is located in what the FBI has repeatedly named one of the ten most dangerous cities per capita in the United States. As Excelsior teacher Christine McCartney says, “At Excelsior Academy, we strive to create global citizens who recognize their power to enact change at both the local and global level.” Travel is a privilege that we're lucky enough to get to do. Not everyone in this country gets the chance to do so and, with the very likely possibility of future cuts to education programs, it's likely even fewer students will get to know the power of travel, expand their horizons, and learn about the world. Let's step in to fill the gap. Let's give those who don't have the means a chance a life altering trip. Through past donations, we’ve raised $10,000 USD but we need to raise another $20,000 USD. I’ll match all donations up to $10,000 USD so between what we’ve already raised, my match, and your amazing donation and contributions we can fully fund this trip! [If everyone donated just $10, we could fund the entire trip – and many more like it – right away.]( $10 bucks isn't a lot in the grand scheme of kids – but to these kids, their teachers, and parents, it’s huge. It is life changing for them! I know we are all budget travelers and short on funds, but for a donation of as little as $10, you really can help make an impact on a students’ life. If you can't donate, you can also help by sharing this campaign on Facebook and Twitter, and by emailing your friends, family, cousins, pen pals, coworkers – anyone – and letting them know about this. Help us spread the word about this cause so we can change as many lives as possible. This website has a lot of readers - a lot of caring, amazing, incredible readers. We are an awesome community. One just has to look at the comments on the blogs or in the forums to see how helpful and supportive we are. We lift each other up! Let's pay it forward and help some students the way we've helped each other! Sincerely, Nomadic Matt P.S.- FLYTE is a registered 501(c)(3) so your donation is tax deductible if you're in the US. P.P.S - Once again, you can just [click this link]( to donate!
