{NAME}, Happy May! Now that TravelCon is behind me, I feel like I can finally breathe and get to all

{NAME}, Happy May! Now that TravelCon is behind me, I feel like I can finally breathe and get to all these books I've been waiting to read. I'm currently driving back to Austin through the South and using most of my time to visit museums, sit on the beach, and read. Road trips are one of my favorite ways to binge a lot of books. While I didn't get to as many books in April, I did get to a few: [Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals]( - I liked this book so much that I read it twice last month. The gist is this: There will never be enough time to do everything, so don’t try. Get used to the fact that some things just won’t get done — that when you do "master email," all you do is add more email to your list. It is the anti-time-management book and has profoundly influenced the way I now look at time and what I do with it. I can't recommend it enough. Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( [Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life]( - This book is about how we mimic everything and there's really no independent thought. We are all influenced, consciously and subconsciously, by models in our lives. (Think about how you didn't feel like pizza until you saw someone else eating it.) It was a fascinating look at how we can be more the models we mimic, how to use social media, and how people make decisions. Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( The third book I read last month is our book club selection, [From Scratch](. For more info about it, see the book club section below. And for two other suggestions, I am tossing my books in the ring this month: [Ten Years a Nomad]( - The book is a memoir about my ten years traveling the world, my philosophy on travel, and the lessons I learned that can help you travel better. If you want a summer read to inspire you, I dare say this could be the book! Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( [How to Travel the World on $50 a Day]( - Travel is going to be very expensive this summer. Prices are through the roof (I'm sure you've noticed). My New York Times best-selling book was called "the bible for budget travelers" by the BBC and will teach you how to save money on the road this summer so you can travel better, cheaper, and smarter! Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( OUR NEXT BOOK CLUB PICK IS... Set in the lush Sicilian countryside, Tembi discovers the healing powers of food, family, and unexpected grace after her husband dies. From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home is a captivating story of love lost and found (it was a New York Times bestseller too). I absolutely loved the powerful imagery and emotion of this book. I teared up so many times. It's an incredible book and I am very excited to be talking to Tembi about the book later this month. [Click here to join our live Q&A with Tembi on May 25th!]( **** If you’re looking for even MORE suggested reading, be sure to [check out all my favorites on Bookshop](. It's not as cheap as Amazon but the money helps small, independent books. If you're in the US and UK, buy from them! (But, if you only use Kindle or live elsewhere, [here's the Amazon link]( Best, Nomadic Matt P.S. - While I appreciate everyone sending me their books, I have a long, long, long reading list and I can't accept any books. I appreciate you offering but, if the universe wills it, I will find your book and read it. Thanks. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
