{NAME}, We did it. We made it through another year! A lot of books were read, a lot of wine was (probably) drunk, and some vacations might have been had. Today's the last book club email of the year and, with it, I have some recent reads, a round-up list, and some other updates to share. First, three recent books I enjoyed last month: [Man's Search for Meaning]( Viktor Frankl's classic on our search for meaning. Frankl was a psychologist who survived the Nazi concentration camps and came up with logotherapy, a school of psychotherapy that describes the search for meaning as our central life motivation.  Get in on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( [Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going Where Captain Cook Has Gone Before]( - Tony Horwitz follows the journeys of Captain Cook, visiting the islands around the world Cook did and learning about the impact Cook's visits had on the native cultures and the legacy of those encounters. It was not only an interesting look at the history of Cook's journeys but about native impressions of the visits and what they thought of him today. It was a dense but enjoyable read. Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( [The Expanse]( - Ok, yes, I've included this series many times before but the final book came out last week and, of course, I read it immediately! The series ends in such an incredible and satisfying way. The space battles? The drama? All of it! Wow! Really, pick this series up! It's just an incredible sci-fi series that is now one of my all-time favorites.  Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( Second, I want to close out the year with two shameless plugs: [Ten Years a Nomad]( - This is my memoir about my ten years backpacking the world as well as a treatise on my philosophy on travel. It follows the emotional journey of a trip around the world - from planning to being out there for the first time, to making friends to the emotions of coming home and everything in between. I talk about the reality of long-term travel and the lessons that come from that lifestyle. Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( [How to Travel the World on $50 a Day]( - My other book features all my best tips in one easy-to-follow format that you can take with you when you travel. It will help you become a master traveler and navigate the world. It's like this blog but WAY more detailed, covering everything you need to know to plan a trip and travel the world with confidence. Get it on [Amazon]( | [Bookshop]( Third, over the course of the year, I've read a lot of books. I'm north of 70 so far and there are still a few weeks left in the year. I've compiled all my favorites from the year into a list in case you missed previous emails. [You can see them all with this link](. Finally, if you’re looking for even MORE suggested reading, be sure to [check out all my favorites on Bookshop.]( It's not as cheap as Amazon but the money helps small, independent books. If you're in the US and UK, buy from them! (But, if you only use Kindle or live elsewhere, [here's the Amazon link]( That's it for this month! I'll see you all next year with a new selection of books, our first book club reading, and who knows what else.
