House pick-up opportunities

The 2024 election cycle is fast approaching. While much of the focus has been on the Presidential race and a competitive Senate map, there are several House races that the Democrats have a real chance to win. Here we are highlighting a few potential races that Democrats could pick up. Wisconsin 03 From the late 1990s until 2022, western Wisconsin was represented by Democrat Ron Kind in Congress. However, after his retirement the seat flipped to Republicans by a small margin. Since then Derrick Van Orden has been an embarrassment to the Wisconsin 3rd District, and highlights include screaming at high schooler Congressional pages and yelling at an intern at a local library in his district.  In the 2023 Wisconsin Supreme Court race, the district supported the liberal candidate by over ten points! This is the perfect pick up opportunity for Democrats in 2024, and a chance to boot a MAGA supporter who yells at children.  SC 01 In 2020, Nancy Mace defeated Democratic incumbent Joe Cunningham, narrowly flipping the first South Carolina district in favor of Republicans. Afterwards, Republicans gerrymandered the district to support Mace by larger margins. The district is currently under review in the courts, and pending a decision the South Carolina GOP may have to draw new and fair boundaries. This might end up being the perfect pick up opportunity for Democrats.  AL 02 Democrats are poised for a pickup in the Heart of Dixie after a court ruled that the Alabama congressional map illegally diluted Black voting power in the state. This is a huge win for democracy and the new district is a great chance at a Democratic pickup, bolstering the party’s margins in the House.  [It is so important to focus not only on the Presidential and big Senate races, but also on these smaller House races in order to create majorities that allow for the Democratic agenda to pass.
