As a veteran, I know what it means to put it all on the line to defend the homeland. I also know what it means to be entrusted with our nation's secrets, and the duty that comes with that knowledge. Just when I think that Trump couldn’t stoop any lower, he manages to. This man might just be the most dangerous opposition our nation has ever faced. All throughout human history, empires have risen and fallen. And make no mistake about it, we are no exception. We are the world's most dominant superpower and we too can fall if we allow this man to go unchecked and unpunished. Trump represents everything that is wrong with our society – greed, arrogance, gluttony. He makes a mockery of our country and debases our values at a fundamental level. We also have to accept that he is not alone and that his allies are growing stronger by the day, even as the Justice Department cracks down on him. This letter I’m writing today is all about truths, and here is one more for you. I’m scared. I’m scared for our democracy. I never thought I would say those words out loud let alone write it for everyone to see. You see, our democracy is fragile, and I personally know many of my fellow brothers-in-arms that gave their lives to defend it. That's what makes this so hard to grasp. How can a country that spent the last century fighting wars to defend democracy be willing to give it all up for one man? The greatest generation who held the mantle of democracy – well, few of them remain now, and the rest of them are rolling over in their graves disgusted with us. It’s a shame on us if we lay down and allow this to go unchecked. We must fight for America's heartland, we must talk to our fellow Americans, and we must defend democracy. We are a nation that has one President at a time, why the hell would he feel the need to steal classified information related to the nukes if he didn’t have a use for them? In short, he did. This is a man that worships wealth and can you imagine the payday that would come with information related to our nation's nuclear secrets? The Chinese, the Russians, The Saudis, Iran, North Korea, you name it and they would pay billions of dollars for that information. If this isn’t treason, I don't know what is. Now here is the part that has me fuming: the Republican party fell back in line with Trump and now they’re defending him. Cowards, all of them! They don't deserve to serve the American people, and they don't deserve the privilege to represent us. They sold out, whether it be fear or greed, like in the case of Lindsay Graham, I don't care. They’re all a disgrace. I have never in my life been so disgusted with them than I am right now. As Democrats we need to get fired up. It’s time for us to gear up and fight! The weapon I’m talking about is our voices. It’s time to organize and get our voters energized and ready to cast their vote blue across this country. We are fighting battles in Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin, you name it, we are there. Let's go! I don't care what it is you decide to do to help win this, as long as you do something. We need all hands on board. Everyone should be canvassing and knocking on doors this weekend, we need to be holding rallies in every city in the country.
