[DONATE TO THE NO DEM LEFT BEHIND SENATE FUND NOW]( The Cook Political Report, published earlier this year, predicted a total of 10 competitive seats to be up for election, with 2 likely to be Democratic, and another 5 in the toss-ups. This is good news, folks – at least 7 out of 10 competitive seats are within reach for Democrats (we actually think it’s more than that, but we’ll get to that in a minute). Winning all 7 would expand our majority by 2 seats, allowing us to end the filibuster, add several seats to the Supreme Court, and start taking back our civil rights! This isn’t a pipe dream – the Republicans have actually helped us out by nominating some of the worst candidates we’ve seen in years. The candidates this year are a complete mess, nominated and touted by Republicans for the sole purpose of gaining control of the Senate. There’s barely an ounce of competency between them – the Republican slate is an utter clown show. This might make it a little easier to beat them come November … but at the same time, it’s exactly why we MUST beat them – because none of these clowns belong anywhere near the halls of power! Take a look: è Arizona’s Blake Masters is a Trump-backed venture capitalist and a racist that blames Black Americans for gun violence and opposes critical race theory. It’s no wonder that he’s a beloved favorite of Nazis! è Georgia’s Herschel Walker is a Trump-backed former pro football star and a deadbeat to at least 4 kids born out of wedlock. There might actually be more, but who knows! He’s a notorious liar. è Pennsylvania’s Dr. Mehmet Oz is a reality TV doctor, who just moved out of his place in New Jersey to run in Pennsylvania. He’s known infamously for his often incorrect and sometimes downright bizarre medical beliefs. You don’t want this doctor treating a cold, nevertheless sitting in the Senate! è Nevada’s Adam Laxalt is a Trump-backed candidate that’s spent most of his career as a former state’s attorney followed by financial scandals. Recently, he’s called Roe a joke and championed anti-abortion measures. You think Nevada loves him? Think again: 63% of voters in Nevada support Roe. è Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson is a current Senator who was definitely involved in the deadly January 6th attempt to overthrow our government. In particular, he had slates of fake electors set to try and falsely verify Trump as the president. So, this is what we’re up against: An open racist, a hypocritical deadbeat dad with a history of domestic abuse and fraud, a carpetbagging reality TV quack, a forced-birther, and a participant in the deadly January 6 attempt to overthrow our democratically-elected government. So, yeah, none of these people belong anywhere near the U.S. Senate. In a sane world, the fact that these Republican candidates are so terrible should make November a cakewalk. But this is still the same country that elected Donald Trump, so we’re not taking any chances. The fact is, Donald Trump won in 2016 by playing the numbers game better than our side did, and we won in 2020 by playing the numbers game better than his side did. Remember, most elections are won or lost by a very specific group of voters – the persuadable, motivated middle. By that, we mean that there’s a certain number of voters on each side of the aisle who ALWAYS vote, and ALWAYS vote a straight party ticket. They’re not persuadable by the other side. It’s pointless to spend resources trying to win them over. But there are also large numbers of voters who either don’t always vote, or don’t always vote for the same party … and these are the voters we need to reach, persuade, and motivate. That’s what we did so well in 2020, especially in states like Georgia, and it’s what we intend to do again, with your help, in 2022.
