Our country is made up of over 300 million Americans. We’re the most diverse country in the world, and when we speak of diversity, we don't just mean ethnic diversity – we’re also talking about socioeconomic diversity. Most Americans aren’t lawyers and most of us don’t come from family money, but our Congress is not reflective of that at all. Congress makes laws about a wide variety of subjects – education, cybersecurity, infrastructure, voting rights, internet privacy, health care, workplace conditions … and that’s just to name a few. Wouldn't it be nice if we had experts in those subjects writing those laws? We need teachers in Congress -- who else is better equipped to understand what our nation's schools need? We need cybersecurity experts in Congress to help us craft policies to protect vulnerable public and private networks from attacks by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Infrastructure is a hot topic of discussion lately; we need engineers to be involved in the conversation. We need a Congress that looks more like the country it’s supposed to represent, not like an alumni reception at Harvard Law. For us, diversity isn’t just a buzzword we like to use every so often to check a box and make H.R. happy – we truly believe in it. Diversity, inclusion – they’re what bring in new ideas, fresh perspectives, and better outcomes for everyone … not just a homogenous few. As Democrats, we strive hard to ensure that all voices are heard, to build an America where we can all strive and flourish. That is what separates us from the Republicans – they only care about themselves and the special interest groups they represent. Our team isn’t isolated in the D.C. bubble – we’ve gone out of our way to build our organization with people who live all across this country: California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin. We do it this way to make sure we never become disconnected from the real issues facing everyday Americans, like so many full-time beltway insiders do. That’s why we understand all too well that right now, things aren’t looking so great for a lot of the country. But that doesn’t deter us from our mission. We believe that the only way to make things better is to work even harder to advocate for the things we believe in. Compromise is important in a country as large and as diverse as ours, but there are some issues on which we simply cannot cave: - The climate crisis is real, and we must change the way we treat our planet (after all, contrary to what Elon Musk would have you believe, we can only really live on this one!). - Everyone deserves the right to decide whether and when to become a parent – the right to choose must be guaranteed to all Americans. - Your right to vote shouldn’t be negatively affected by your zip code, income, disability, or skin color – if you are a U.S. citizen, it should be easy to cast your ballot. - There’s no such thing as a “self-made” billionaire. If you’re wealthier than 99% of Americans (whether you inherited the money or built that fortune in your lifetime), then you owe it to this country that has given you so much to pay your fair share. - Weapons of war don’t belong in our nation's communities. The right to self-defense is in the constitution, the right to wield a weapon that can mow down a classroom full of children or a movie theater full of people in less than a minute is not. {NAME}, you are our ally in this mission, and for that we thank you. We also need your help right now, maybe more than ever. Regardless of what you see on cable news, the midterms are ours for the taking. As Democrats, we outnumber the Republicans, and Independents agree with us on almost every issue we just listed. When we show up, we win, so let's make sure we have the resources to reach out to our communities and get them out to the polls. Let’s do this thing together … it’s the only way we know how! In Solidarity, --The No Dem Left Behind team No Dem Left Behind is a federal PAC focused on building a base of support for progressive values in rural America. We are committed to helping solve the issues that people in rural America face by creating a foundation of trust and helping great local leaders emerge to run for elected office. We provide a national platform for our endorsed Democratic candidates to increase their exposure and help them mount winning campaigns.
