I have never once used the term “defund the police,” but damn it, those officers don't deserve a dime. 19 officers sitting around twiddling their thumbs while those children were being slaughtered and bleeding to death. Cowards! Shame on them. In combat, soldiers move toward the sound of gunfire and engage the threat; they don’t sit back and wait for the enemy to run out of ammo. I would have expected the same from the police – especially knowing there were children in the line of fire! When I first heard that the police did not go in, my first instinct was that this must be another Twitter rumor, no way could it be true. I am still in disbelief about how these officers screwed up to the level that they did. The anger and rage I feel, I know we all share it. I am so, so sorry for the families … and for those little angels, who I believe to my core are now in heaven. We must not allow these children to have died in vain; we must honor their legacy. These weapons of war need to be treated as such. Gun reform laws are not optional. Unfortunately, we know the 50 Republicans currently sitting in the U.S. Senate don’t care about the dead children. Let me repeat that again: The 50 sitting Republican Senators do not care about the dead children of Uvalde, Texas. They’re already transitioning to their talking points, written for them by the NRA terrorist organization. They’re blaming the doors, the security, they want to arm the teachers, you name it, they’ll say it – just as long as it’s not “let’s pass common-sense gun safety reform.” ENOUGH!!! Let's go around them, let's defeat them, let's make them irrelevant. We need to increase our Senate majority, and we can do it. The entire country agrees with us: 90% of Americans want some kind of gun reform! So, what are we doing? We need to be out there, talking to everyone, right now. I am flying back to the U.S. next week, and I’m ready to get to work. We have less than 6 months to go before voters go to the polls and decide what kind of country we want to live in. Do we want to wait until the next school shooting? Or are we finally going to act? Now is the time for us to step up for our children and grandchildren and remove these heartless monsters from office. As far as I am concerned, they are America's enemy.
