Wade. Many are young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 taking part in political activism for the first time in their lives because they’ve suddenly recognized the impact that politics can have on their choices and their futures. If you take a look at these photos from protests held all over the country this Mother’s Day weekend in defense of our right to choose, you’ll see that Generation Z was front and center, leading the charge. It was exciting to see! It’s no surprise that this generation of digital natives knows how to show up, get loud, make things go viral, and influence public debate. But historically, what they haven’t done is vote. In 2020, that began to change after the Black Lives Matter protests, which inspired 1.1 million new young people to register to vote, most of whom turned out to support President Biden and the Democrats in that year’s election. This could be that same kind of moment, but even bigger … if and only if we seize the opportunity RIGHT NOW to meet these young people where they are and make sure they register to vote.
