This is no accident – it’s exactly what President Biden and his administration had in mind when they brought our allies together to impose the harshest and most wide-ranging sanctions in the history of the world. NATO has never been as strong and as unified as we are today, and that is thanks in no small part to President Biden. When 81 million of us took to the polls and voted for Joe, this is why we did it. We knew that our country faced incredible challenges both abroad, as well as right here at home, and we knew it would take Herculean leadership to help our country recover from the damage done by the Trump presidency. Look, I will be the first to say this has not been easy. High gas prices and inflation are draining my wallet, and I know everyone else feels it too. But you and I both know that the gas prices can be blamed on one person and one person alone, and that is Vladimir Putin. Let me tell you something else – and this really gets me livid – Republicans are happy that costs are high. You see, they don't care about costs, they don't care about the struggle of the everyday American, they only care about scoring cheap political points attacking President Biden and Speaker Pelosi. I ask myself often, what is it that the Republican Party stands for? And you know what? I have no answer. It is my job to know what they stand for, what their goals are, their vision for the country, and I have no clue. They are the reactionary party, the party of “No.” They have no principles of their own, they just wait to see what we Democrats do so they can oppose us. The GQP is the party of obstruction, sedition, and well, based on the last vote to send more aid to Ukraine, which only Republicans opposed, it appears they are the party of Putin. You want to know who is supporting Vladimir Putin? It's simple: Trump and Republican members of Congress, that's who. I know that none of this is comforting to our Ukrainian brothers and sisters who are suffering right now at the hands of Putin, but I believe if we get involved militarily right now it will only lead to more death and destruction. We’ve got to stay the course – the sanctions are working, and peace will prevail. In the meantime, we need to keep supplying the Ukrainian army with weapons and ammunition to defend their country, and we need to increase our humanitarian aid as well – which, again, is something only Republican members of Congress voted against … hmm, I wonder why? I also hope that we Americans and our NATO allies learn from this moment, we must no longer be handcuffed to Russian and Saudi fossil fuels. We should have been investing even more in American clean alternative energy. I can't believe I have to say this, but windmills don't cause cancer. (If you don't know what I am talking about, just Google it.) I think the universe is trying to tell us something – it’s telling us to wake up and start innovating again. Solar, wind, and even nuclear energy are the future, and guess what? That will be good for America. We will be the world's most dominant distributor of energy, that is what we should have our sights set on. I want America to lead, I want America to prosper and set a shining example for the world.
