I can do it in one word, borrowed from my military years: CLUSTERF***. To recap how we are doing: - The most important parts of Build Back Better are still stalled, even after the administration took a victory lap and said “we did it!” - GQP-run state legislatures all over the country have successfully passed and enacted dozens of new voter suppression laws, while we can’t even get a debate in the Senate on the Voter Rights Act. - Not a single new gun safety bill has been passed. - No new environmental protections have been passed. - No one but AOC is seriously talking about student loan relief. - And Roe vs. Wade may get overturned while Democrats control Congress, Senate and the White House! Look, folks, you know I’m not one to sugarcoat things; I call it like I see it. The first year of Biden’s presidency has been a disaster. And the worst part about it is that it isn’t even really his fault. I’ll just cut to the chase, we all know who and what the problem is here – 50 Trumplican Senators and two DINOs who seem hellbent on protecting their fat cat donors’ interests at the expense of poor and middle-class Americans. Remember how excited we all were in 2020 when indomitable badass Stacey Abrams just about singlehandedly delivered Georgia to the Democrats – and with it, a narrow Senate majority? We thought we had it made! That was before we realized Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema were snakes in the grass ready to sell their own party and all of America out for a few million bucks. Pictured: Sellouts Kyrsten "ÜberKaren" Sinema and Joe "Maserati" Manchin So where do we go from here? How do we prevent Biden’s legacy from being one of failure and capitulation to the GQP? There’s only one option, and we only have one shot to do it: We MUST expand our Senate majority in the upcoming midterms. Neither Manchin nor Sinema is up for reelection this year, which means they’re not going anywhere. And since I don’t expect either of them to have a miraculous change of heart, we need to elect AT LEAST two more REAL Democratic Senators who will vote to get rid of the filibuster for Biden to have any hope of keeping his campaign promises. Two more Democratic senators. That’s the bare minimum needed to save this presidency from becoming a four-year lame-duck session – or worse. And it doesn’t sound like a lot until you consider that it requires us not only to FLIP two Republican seats, but to HOLD ON to ALL of the seats we already have. That sounds like a taller order. There are 34 seats up for grabs in the Senate this November, but only 10 are considered competitive. Of those, six are opportunities for us to pick up seats (open seats and vulnerable Republican incumbents), while four are sitting Democratic senators with tough races ahead of them. Source: Race to the White House That narrow advantage is good news for us … IF and ONLY IF we seize the opportunity and give it everything we’ve got to pick up those seats while protecting our vulnerable incumbents. Unfortunately, the GQP is WAY ahead of us in the money game – they outraised our party nearly 3-2 in the last quarter and they have twice as much cash on hand. For us to have any hope of protecting and expanding our majority, we need to start playing catch-up NOW. [Can you pitch in any amount today to help Democrats pick up the seats we need to break through the GQP’s wall of obstruction and let President Biden deliver on his campaign promises?]( [CHIP IN →]( If we fail to pick up the Senate seats we need, all the hard work we did in 2020 will have been for nothing. We’ll have simply postponed doomsday for four years while Trump licks his wounds and raises billions of dollars so he can come back stronger and more dangerous than ever in 2024. Worse yet, Biden’s legacy will be one of failure, resulting in a loss of the American people’s trust and costing Democrats elections at every level for decades to come. You and I can’t let that happen. [Please chip in whatever you can afford to the No Dem Left Behind Senate Fund today.]( Everything is riding on the midterms. This is our do-or-die moment.
