You see, in just a few days -- January 6 -- it will have been ONE WHOLE YEAR since Trump’s GQP thugs stormed the Capitol WHILE CONGRESS WAS IN SESSION, trying to stop the certification of the freest and fairest election in U.S. history and install their orange-faced wannabe third-world despot for another term. Five people lost their lives in that bloody coup attempt, including a Capitol Police officer. They may have failed to take the White House that day, but their leaders – the ones who planned the coup – are STILL IN CONGRESS. Marjorie “Traitor” Greene, Lauren “Ex-Con” Boebert, Matt “The Pedophile” Gaetz, Paul “The Nazi” Gosar and all the rest of them are still there, blocking President Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan and terrorizing America with their non-stop spewing of hateful and dangerous lies. So far, the only people who have faced any consequences for the violent insurrection on January 6 have been the rank-and-file suckers who fell for the lies their orange leader and his lapdogs told them. Don’t get me wrong -- I don’t feel sorry for them at all! Jail is exactly where they all belong. But when are we going to hold the folks who planned and led the charge accountable? As I write to you, the January 6 Committee is trying to do just that, but they’ve been met with nothing but stonewalling and false claims of “executive privilege.” (Telling, isn’t it, that they say they can’t release evidence about the planning of the coup because of “executive privilege” – doesn’t that mean the executive branch was directly involved in the plan?) I’m optimistic that the courts will do the right thing and make these folks hand over the evidence, even if it does implicate the disgraced ex-resident of the White House. But we have a much bigger problem on our hands, and that’s what I call the “Sedition Caucus” – the treasonous jackals who planned and assisted a bloody coup attempt on our legitimately elected government, and yet somehow still sit in that same government, continuing to undermine our democracy and foul everything up! Now, I’ve got to be honest with you, there’s not much, if any precedent for a situation like this one, and I don’t know how far the January 6 Committee is willing to go to hold these slimeballs accountable for their treasonous actions. It’s pretty hard to remove a sitting Congressman or Senator, unless you’re willing to outright throw an elected representative of the people into prison, and I don’t know if they’ve got the stomach for that.
