It's a troubling scenario, and we cannot stay silent in the face of such dangerous rhetoric.  Nikki Haley, a former Boeing board member, has emerged as a vocal warmonger in the Republican ranks. Boeing, America's third-largest weapons manufacturer, has benefitted from Haley's support for a staggering $900 million development package in 2009. Moreover, she served on Boeing's board in 2020, highlighting her deep ties to the military-industrial complex.  It's disheartening to see a candidate prioritize the interests of defense contractors over the well-being of our nation. Haley's push for war stands in stark contrast to the wishes of the American public, who overwhelmingly fear and hope to avoid unnecessary conflicts.  What’s more, Nikki Haley has called for a return of $500 million in so-called “covid spending fraud” when referring to the money distributed to all counties across America to support covid recovery. Her numbers are vastly inflated, as much of the money she refers to as “unspent” is actually allocated and earmarked to be spent.  However, her words reveal two things. Firstly, a growing concern we have been highlighting here at No Dem Left Behind – many Republican led counties have allowed millions in federal funding to remain unspent. As a result, we have seen some post-covid recovery backsliding across the country, where local governments have let their citizens down.  The other thing Nikki Haley’s words reveal is her desire to cut social welfare programs that are the crucial lifeblood of America. As she gains traction in the polls, especially as a runner-up to Trump in New Hampshire, it's crucial to act now to prevent the resurgence of Bush-Cheney era politics.
