The bill, supported by 209 Democrats and opposed by 93 Republicans, aims to extend funding for government agencies. Here is the rub: funding is only supported for agencies until January 19 and funding will only be allocated to other government areas until February 2. The vote follows a tense day on Capitol Hill, marked by disagreements among GOP lawmakers. This is the MAGA solution: to toss the threat of a government shutdown down the road for a few months. America needs guarantees through long-term solutions, and Republicans have proven they cannot provide this. This charade will likely continue throughout MAGA Mike’s time as speaker. No long term solution, no guarantees for the American people, and a consistent risk of a government shutdown thanks to the extreme MAGA Republican party. In 2024, Democrats can take back the house and give Hakeem Jeffries the gavel.
