keep an eye on this Alabama case Urgent Update Yet another court case will have reproductive rights at the center.  Recent comments and legal filings by the Alabama Attorney General point to the state pursuing aggressive charges against groups that help low-income women obtain abortions out of state.  According to AP: "Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office made the assertion in a Monday motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by an abortion assistance fund and others arguing such prosecutions would be unconstitutional. The groups are seeking a legal ruling clarifying that Alabama can’t prosecute people for providing financial, appointment or travel assistance for an Alabama woman to obtain an abortion in another state." Groups like the Yellowhammer Fund, a financial assistance organization, has stopped its primary mode of operations in fear of legal retaliation, which is exactly the kind of "chilling effect" GOP lawmakers are looking to create by passing extreme bans. According to the Alabama Reflector: "A federal judge Tuesday set a Sept. 28 deadline for healthcare providers to respond to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s motion to dismiss their lawsuit seeking to stop Marshall from prosecuting those who help people obtain out-of-state abortion care." Currently, in the Alabama law, there is no exception for rape or incest, leaving low-income women with little to no options for a choice in their care.  [{NAME}, the radical right will move the goalpost each time. Their ultimate goal is a national ban on choice, period.
