Those of us who've held security clearances understand how egregious of an act it is to violate them. [continue reading] {NAME}, in a minute I'm going to ask you to sign a petition to demand Trump be held accountable. [But first, will you take it one step further and join me and the movement to defeat MAGA-Republicans by pledging your support of No Dem Left Behind?]( [Chip in $20.24 →]( [Chip in $50 →]( [Chip in $100 →]( [Chip in other amount →]( {NAME}, in light of more and more evidence pointing towards Donald Trump's misuse of our nation's secrets will you [sign this petition]( and forward this message to a friend to do the same? [petition]( To the Office of Attorney General Garland & the Department of Justice, I’m writing this letter to ask that Donald Trump be served justice to the fullest extent. This man appeared to have mishandled documents of critical importance to our country and broke our security protocols for his own means. He allegedly took Top Secret and other classified documents to his poorly guarded home in Mar-A-Lago and a storage facility in Florida. This is a huge security violation, and he should be held accountable, just like any other American. As a veteran of our military, I had to go through an extensive background check process to gain national security clearance and be trusted with our national secrets. They checked to make sure I didn’t have a criminal history, hostile foreign ties or psychological instability. That alone makes it alarming that someone like our former President bypassed that process – a man who proved himself to be in egregious violation of everything a national security clearance requires. National security clearance, as folks like me know, is something that we are entrusted by the nation we have sworn to protect. When we gain our clearance, we do so with the recognition that if we reveal those secrets, our country has the right to punish us. This is a status we must bear in good faith and good will for America. Any one of us knows that imprisonment is a possibility for breaking our oath. Which is why we’re angry that our former President Trump thinks he is above the law. How many thousands of us are true to our word? My fellow vets and I served this country through far more treacherous situations than any he’s ever been in. We’re sworn to our country, so we understand the gravity of these secrets. We’re loyal, unlike our former President. Trump needs to be held accountable. Anyone who hoards national security secrets in violation of security clearance regulations and laws commits a shocking violation of our nation’s integrity. If we as a country allow even one person to be above the law, how can we expect to hold anyone accountable? Our nation’s secrets would all be in jeopardy if we cannot hold Trump accountable. Even now, more and more information continues to come out from the January 6th Committee and their testimonies. Recently, it was divulged that Mark Meadows regularly burned documents in fireplaces prior to the transition into the new administration. That’s why I’m calling the public to action. We want to see Trump held responsible for his apparent gross violations of our national security. We want to know that our discretion was not for nothing – that we protected our country, as best we could. This government trusted those of us who've held security clearances with her secrets, and myself and the public hope that, in turn, we can trust the Department of Justice to pursue justice.
