It marks a historic moment where we have witnessed the left-wing Labour Government dominate parliament for the first time since 1997. After 14 years of Conservative rule, a new wave of change and hope spreads as the people have voted AGAINST the Conservative Party, and recently elected Prime Minister Keir Starmer steps into office. As people have turned their trust away from the Conservative Party and its claims to use Brexit as a method of success and independence for all, it has backfired and caused deeper confusion and distrust for Conservative leaders, leading to their foreseeable defeat. With their heads turned to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, it is evident that this landslide victory has led to fertile ground for partnership within the UK and its friends in the European Union. The question of identity rose when the Conservative Party previously gained power in parliament. Now, more than ever, the people have a united voice and lifted spirit for the UK as they flood the streets in celebration of PM Keir Starmer, agreeing that Brexit has only further complicated and divided the nation. Therefore, it is time to stop delivering empty promises and restore the trust between the people's needs and wants and the parties' ability to fulfill them through tangible action. The newly elected Labour Government has begun to do just that. Notably, these turnouts have led to the election of the first-ever female Treasury Chief, Rachel Reeves. She aims to bring stability and economic growth in a time of immense financial insecurity, further provoked by the Conservative Party's deep infiltration of unsustainable economic policies and business-geared perspectives rather than pursuing beneficial policies for the common person, the majority. Together, the Labour Party has set out focus points for change: immigration reform to eliminate the wasteful use of taxpayer dollars on unsuccessful and costly deportations, and proactively resetting relationships with the UK’s neighbors to find common ground for partnership, to name a few. France An uprising of anti-far-right protests and cheering crowds has increased in France as the time nears for electing a left-wing prime minister. Once divisive perspectives of leftists and centrists are diminishing as they form a left-wing alliance called the New Popular Front to counteract the support of Marine Le Pen’s far-right party, their xenophobic and anti-semtic views. President Emmanuel Macron will have to name a Prime Minister from among the leftists because they won the most seats. This is good news for leftists, whose views and initiatives will take up more space in parliament. Despite claims of uncertainty, a core fact remains: there is a harmonious stance against the far-right coming from the people, which will consequently lead to a left-leaning Prime Minister. Yesterday, many gathered in Paris, exchanging hugs, expressing tears of joy, and with filled spirits. Despite President Macron’s weak attempts to abuse his presidential power and call an unexpected snap legislative election, voters rejected the far-right, confirmed through the polls' left-leaning outcomes, leaving the far-right front-runners in third place. What this breakthrough means for the left is that it will complicate President Macron’s initiatives in the remainder of his presidency and will amplify the previously belittled voices of left-leaning voters and parties alike.
